$2000 budget to replace stock bose in '97

I've got a '97 SE with the stock bose and I'm looking at options to replace the whole thing. What would you guys do with $2,000?

-I like loud and quality sound.
-If I had enough to get a HU to play DVD and CD and add a 7" LCD, that would be cool, but not necessary.
-I have traditionally liked the lively sound of Klipsch home audio.
-I want good bass without losing the highs.

get a mb quart component setup for the front, pioneer or infinity 2 ways for the back, a 4 channel amp for those. get a single 12'' woofer, a mono amp for that. if your gonna add video get a center channel speaker. check out cructchfield for ideas

I'll probably get put in my place, but here's what I'd say off the top of my head. It's probably more like $2300, but I'd say
1) djfreestyl's AVN-5435 (I'm guessing less then $1300)
2) 3 Channel Amp $500
3) Front Speakers $250
4) 1 Sub $250
5) Run the deck power to the stock rears

Remember, Pearl96Max is your friend first, eBay and Craigslist second

Very good list. Start with the AVN, then just get some Soundlines from Don, a Diamond 4 channel amp to power the fronts and bridge to a Diamond D1 10/12" sub. Skip the rear speakers, they won't be necessary. This will fall directly into your budget.

I like this list. Can I power the stock Bose rears with the AVN if I want to? What box should I get with a D1 12"? I've typically been very happy with sealed enclosures; how big of box should I get/build for that? Or would it not get loud enough with a sealed box?

Yes, you can power Bose system with the AVN. Standard prefab box for the d1...1cuft should be fine.

The bose may muddy the sound a little bit, get rid of the rear bose altogether. You won't need it with a solid front stage anyways.

Where are you going for the install?
[shameless plug] I do freelance installs, many of which come from the org and Don's equipment, cheaper than 90% of other shops and better quality work.[/plug]

Go with the AVN. I happen to be a fan of the ARC Kar series. Don hooked me up with the whole set. I don't know what they're going for now, but look into that line because they sound great, look great and fit great.

I'll be doing the install myself. I installed crap audio (still better than stock) on my last '96 Max (non-bose), so I know how to get to everything pretty well at this point. Plus I really enjoy the satisfaction of doing a job myself.

Thanks for the offer though.
