Commponent choices...

Commponent choices...
I am looking for some components to run off my 4050xxk. I am looking for the best I can buy for up to 400bucks and am open to all suggestions. Also i would like it to be 2.5" deep or less if at all possible because its going in a car where depth will matter. Thanks alot in advance. I know you guys won't steer me wrong.
P.S. I'm also coming into the market for a sub so if you have a rec. for a single 12 in a similar budget feel free to throw it in there. I have an Arc kar 900.1d that the sub will be run off of. Thanks again!

Yea, I'd say it's either $2xx for SLC's or $4xx for Germaniums. There are other brands out there, which you are surely welcome to research, but those would be my personal choice. Whatever sounds good to your ears is what matters. Check out some local audio shops.
Gotta understand if theres many views, it could be because other people have the same question you do, not necessarily an answer to your question.

The 4050xxk bridged to the SLC's would be a solid choice IMHO.
I think I'm gonna run my SLC's Active. HU xover at 80 and up, mids xover'd at 3800 and down at 12db and the tweets at 3800 and up at 12 db.

i had concidered the hex's but durring the group buy on the slc's a few people had mentioned something about liking them better than the diamonds so i dont know if its worth it
does morel make anything nice in my price range?
i hadnt really concidered going active much because of my lack of experience/knowledge but am certainly open to the suggestion what else would i need though to go active?

i do like the fact that the crossovers for the HEX come with an added rearfill outputs. the HEX crossovers just seem more solidly built as well.. but i still love my SLCs

If you can, give the Mtx txc6.1 thunder axe's an audition. I thought they were a joke until i heard them installed in a car. These things outperformed the hex 6.5 silks and the alpine type x. I have also compared them with JL ZR series and a 6.5 componet by morell (dont know which model). They matched up close to both brands, which cost a lot more. After doing the research, I purchased a pair and have them powered by an orion 8004. They sound very clean even when pushed very hard. Sorry for the long rant, just wanted to throw a brand in there that few use.
OH!, I almost forgot. Thanks Don for making the MDF ring for my componets. I will be getting some rainbows for rear fill this Friday.

I say go Germaniums and either bridge/biamp/biwire the set...yes it gives you lotsa options
If its too spendy I'd say talk to Don about the Rainbow made Alumapro ALC6.2's- excellent set for right at your budget. It gives you a silk or aluminum dome tweter option as well, pretty flexible xover as the Germs as far as wiring options. The tweeter on the Germs however is an upgraded version of the ALC cal25's, and the xover on the Germs allows for better phase tuning between the drivers. The mids should be comparable, both aluminum cones midbass drivers.

4th gens and 5th gens have a nice spot for dome midranges in the OEM kickpanel area. Very minor modification. If you chose that route DLS 3 way sets are a good bet for you.
If you dont have subs, either one of those amps bridged will crank the shyt out of the new Diamond Audio D1 subs. My brother has a pair of 12's in his 4 runner that get insanely loud(and sound good) with ~180rms each.
