eclipse top of the line avn VS. pioneer z1

i have not idea which one ot get, id rather hear experiences with either.

i know eclipse is all in one, but the instalation doesn't matter. all that matters is SQ and ease... also graphics.. i hate the graphics on the pionner n2/n3..and z1 seems to be cool.. both have great reviews.. i'm stuck

Eclipse, hands down is the best. No flashy graphics, no extra "toys," just straight audio!!

2.2v 1k ohm preouts FTL. The Z1 does have some nice features, but if sound quality is important to you its an easy choice.

I am bias but I would say the eclipse. it is easy to use. Although which ever one you get since you are looking for sq make sure you get a line driver. the eclipse does say 5v outs but it is actully around 2.8 or so.

I dunno about you, but I know Id much rather spend my money on higher quality components than sh!ttier ones and the need for a line driver.

Who says theyre 2.8? And if you bench tested it to get that reading at a certain volume level...bench test the Pioneer at the same level and see what you get, thatll be fun.

Where'd you get that info from on the preouts?

I had mine tested last week to make sure. cuz another orger has a kenwood and his was lower than that. So to help this I bought the audio control DQSX. This will get the voltage back above the 5v mark.

The Double din unit was not orignally designed for sq systems more so for mobile entertainment. I talk to one of the techs at eclipse about it. Now the single din non video HU will give you the 5 volts.

He told me that with all the features on the AVN it could lose some signal but it is designed to be 5v. So in a PC way he told me that if I am building a sq car for comp this may be an issue for me. For the everyday Joe you would never know the dif. Like I said before the Eclipse rated higher than the Kenwood excelon and I am sure that it is higher than the Pioneer. besides a line driver and great RCA's will get you above 5v. So take it for what it is worth. The bottom line is this in my opinion the Eclipse make the better double din/nav dvd unit.

With toys and gadgets, nothing new there as Pioneer tends to pave the way for that stuff.

The 880 is nice, but already reported issues, just like their flop with first gen 860/960s.

Which AVN are you using for comparison here? Technically speaking for a system setup, the AVN7000 + DCU105 would be the "top of the line" and would hang with most of the upper tiered single din transports out there.

And I'm liking the capabilities and screen size of the Pioneer Z1, very easy to use as well

Im getting the Z installed so Ill let you know if you still need to know. But sq wise it seems from reviews the eclipse is better, although pioneer certainly doesnt have bad sound. But then again this is from reviews and Ill be able to tell you more later once I play aorund with the z1. But it also depends on the components you are running...

*EDIT* Oh and if you decide to go eclipse I would suggest getting the used one from Nilesh. I bought a used amp from him and when he says he babies his components he babies his components. It looked almost perect! Plus you will get the eclipse waranty.
