bose speaker blown?

I've noticed lately that i get a more Bass noise at my rears then normal.

I'm not a sound person at all. I'm like 1/2 deaf when it comes to stereo quailty and stuff. From what i understand all the speakers are 6's so all 4 should sound the same. I have a bose setup on my 98.

When i say bass noise, thats like the type of noise you hear from all the people out there with the systems and the trunk rattleing and all the nasty sounding stuff, I normally put everything in the middle because like i said, i'm 1/2 deaf when it comes to music. I listen to it at a higher level of volume then normal tho. And well when make it play only in the rears and compare it to the fronts. the rears have a more bass feel and more noise to it.

are they anyways of actually testing the speakers, then just audio tests. I've never heard a blown speaker before and don't want to spend money on buying a bose speaker to find out its another type of problem.

If it's rattlin like a bastard, it's most likely blown or is on it's way out. I've never heard a blown speaker before either until my non-bose speakers were kind enough to oblige me. The sound is quite maddening really. Perhaps you should take a peek back there and have a look see.

Its not rattling like crazy. I just hear more bass then normal. I still hear all vocal stuff coming from it. It seems decent.

I would be interested but i'm more instrested in finding out if its blown or not first.

turn it up decently, and listen close to it for the speaker to give like a flapping/farting sound, if so, then replace it....

If you can't tell, pull off the door panel and see if the foam surround is still intact.

door panels ? 0_o nothing is wrong with my fronts. just my rears have a more bass sound compared to the fronts. There are no farting sounds that i recall but i will listen for flaping. i normally have it 1/2 way up or 3/4 of the way up. with the bass and treble at the middle.

Bose engineers have designed their systems to operate at max volume without damaging the speakers. It may not sound great at max volume, but it will not, well, should not blow speakers.

That being said, I would pop the trunk and feel your surrounds and see if they are still intacted. If there are any rips or holes, you're going to get that distorted sound.

Either way, they still suck.

You can pop your rear grills right off with your fingers and take a look.

i think he is saying that it sounds like there is more of a bias towards bass in the rear speakers than in the front. sounds normal to me

eh.. either way if its normal or not.

what happened today wasn't normal at all for a fact.

i was doing what i normally do. like to music 3/4 of the way up. windows down listen to some rap stuff and then i heard a couple of quick crackling noises and like i noticed my right side speaker/speakers went out for like .5 secs and then it came over to my left side and cut out for .5 and back to normal. happened on a smoother road and then i drove some to pull over and listen to it more and it happen once again before i could park the car. Once i parked it all was operating normally and i went on my way and nothing wrong with them again. I guess something is up.

when the speakers cut out on the left and right sides i couldn't hear if it was both or just one. I just noticed the obvious cause it was rather quick, that one side was off.
