battery corosion??/4gauge wire

ok well you all know that when you hook up your amp you run the power wire straight from the amp to your battery. well, my battery seems to build up large amount of corosion every 2-3weeks. i was wondering if anyone knew how to stop this? right now im running 8gauge wire...planning on running 4gauge within a week. and the battery is an enegizer that was in the car when i got it a year and a half ago.

also, when i run the 4 guage wire should i run 4gauge for the amps negative to ground as well?

thanks

Di-electric grease or anti corrosion spray?

Or those fuzzy washers

You need to kill all that corrosion at once and use a stiff wire brush to clean both terminals of the battery. If you don't it will keep coming back. Once you get them clean, use those felt-type washers. It will help keep the corrosion from coming back. As far as the 4 guage wire to amp, you don't necessarily have to. You can use 8 guage and you'll be fine. The shorter the ground and thicker the wire (less guage), the less noise.

Yes, they only cost about $1.00 or so for the pair!

If you go there they will have a pack of green and red felt washers to put on the battery.
