BASS is Loud but just DOESNT feel like it's hitting hard

what's up with my sub amp setup??? it sounds really loud in the car, but it just doesnt feel like its hitting hard, my friend has 2 10's that hit really hard, he can set off car alarms with his little subs and 800watt amp

i have a single 12" sealed sub with 1200 watt amp, it vibrates the he|| out of my maxima but i dont feel the pounding that i want, i want my chest to cave in

You're comparing apples to oranges. What 12 and what amp are you running? What 10's and amp is he running?

Are you really worried about setting off car alarms or having a good quality sound?

setting of car alamr is a joke...so dependant on the cars shock sensor and the location of the car. what box type do you have?

I actually have the same "problem" but I dont know why that is. I get plenty of bass from the rainbow sub, but it doesnt hit hard. I dont feel it pounding in my chest but its something that I can hear and still shakes the car... Its in a sealed box that was made by Rainbow. I'm thinking maybe its because it is 12" and 10" would be more punchy? Any1 have a clue?

no..you need spl. the maxima is a terrible car to feel the bass in. with my sealed 15 and the car sealed off with deadener...I only feel the bass alot when i fold a seat down. dont expect spl from a maxima when compared to any hatchback, suv, or smaller car.

i hear the bass a bit better when seats folded down but everything shakes violently, loudly, and disturbingly, it interferes with the bass.

its a sealed box 1.0cubic ft. awt-12x dvc sub, bp1200.1 amp'ed

sounds like his IQ is way below the SPL of his subs.

The largest w7 is 13.5" with 1000RMS
The 12w7 is 750RMS, not 600RMS to the poster above.

Yeah i wish we could fold our seats down in the 4th gen. instead of the little "cubby" hole compartment. Although I have my amp mounted on the rear of my box so that it fills up the hole when you fold down the arm rest.. Looks pretty good, kinda custom to the untrained eye...

Make sure that you have your maxima sound deadened good. If it is not your car will absorb all of the bass which makes it rattle. If your car is absorbing the bass, it will still sound loud but it will be different from the bass that you should be feeling. With my subs blasting at not even half volume, I can feel my nose vibrating and cds fall from my visor. I am sorta afraid to turn it up much higher because I don't want to break my car, haha. Check your bass boost and frequency filters too on your amp.

2 10s has more surface area than a single 12 and there are many unknown factors. If the box is homemade with true 3/4 mdf and not particle board that's another factor. 800 watt class d with subsonic filter (if he has this) is another factor. Is he Sealed? Ported? Sound deadended. Box solidity is a must for hardcore bass. I've seen Legacy "1200watt" amps put out 100-200watts realistically. Wire gauge size makes a difference too on the powerside and the subs. The type of car he is in say a hatchback could make a difference too.
