Bose amp bypass question

This question has probably already been answered a few times so I apologize if it has. I have a 4th gen with the bose system. I want to replace my head unit and put new speakers in without having to run all new wires. Is it possible to bypass the stock amps? I noticed the 4 wires running to the amps and 2 of them are thicker. One is red, and the other is black so I would be guessing those are the power wires to the amp. The other 2 wires are the same colors as the wires on a maxima without the bose system. So could I just cut the 2 wires and wire them up to aftermarket speakers with a new head unit?

I don't think you can, I rewired my bose and yes it takes some time and it sounds great, I ordered my headunit from CRUTCHFIELD.com they will send you everything you need from instructions, wiring adaptor, and installation kit.

It's possible. Find the non-amplified wires coming from the car into the door and bypass the amp to the speakers.

I have a factory bose unit and want more power flowing out of the speakers. How can I do this without replacing factory CD? Thought about adding an after-market CQ with built in AMP is this possible?

Any suggestion would be appreciated!

What do you mean when you say you want "more power flowing out of the speakers?"

-You want cleaner sound
-You want louder sound

more power and clarity flowing from speakers, I want to be able to control highs, mids, and lows by using EQ.

Let me try this again.

WHICH of the two do you want. Either way, power is a factor.

hopefully we can get it right this time, Im looking for a crisp sound which i already have, but want also want more sound (louder) from my factory system if possible. What I really want to know is if this can be accomplished by installing an aftermarket EQ with built in AMP? or do I have to completely replace the factory system.

Replace your radio first. Your Bose will sound better. Then see if you want it to be cleaner/louder, at which point you buy speakers and amp. You don't need an EQ, the one in your new HU will be fine.

Your whole "more power flowing from speakers" is way off base.

I was told by an installer than a after market HU wouldnt be compatable with the factory Bose speakers. He stated the factory bose speakers where not built well enough to handle after-market HU's and that they were a "piece of junk", that I should get eclipse or fosgate speakers to replace the bose. Was he really off-base?

It can handle it fine.

Tell your installer to use Metra 70-7551 wiring harness for the aftermarket HU

See how you like it, then decide if you need better sound and then upgrade.
