Replacing a 4th gen bose hu

I figure that not all aftermarket stuff will work in a 97 max if it came with bose. A cd player from best buy or something costs about the same as a used hu out of a max or i30 but how do i know if the new (aftermarket) unit will work? Or will my car take only bose products? It was easy for my friend's camry (that wasnt bose) - he took the best buy route. Can I do that? I dont care about the tape played or anything, just want to play CD's.

Either buy new speakers and run fresh wires, get a Bose adapter to make the stock speakers work, or cut up and use the factory wiring with some new speakers (requires the least amount of extra money or work).

How many of these ****ing threads are we going to have per day?

Metra 70-7551 is all you need to know for adding an aftermarket HU to Bose system. End of story.
