Panasonic CQ-C8803U?

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-rcQbXEO...&display=L#Tab

Salesman was really pushing this one.

Should I be looking at any Eclipse or Alpine or even Pioneer over it?

Alpine is very tempting, but everyone here seems to rave about Eclipse.

For that price, I'd definately pass on this one and pick up an Eclipse. Not that I'm biased or anything.

I haven't purchased a head unit in like 5 years but back when I was into car stereo I was ALL about the panasonic HUs. I had 2 or 3 of them, upgrading from previous ones. I also had a clarion, an alpine, and a pioneer. I never had a single problem with any of my panasonics, neither has my sister (who got a panasonic because I told her to). I can't say the same for my clarion nor my alpine. Infact I just installed my old $500 panasonic DF88 into my turbo car yesterday. Still works great even after being in THREE high speed impact accidents which totalled the cars it was installed in.

With the dive that Alpine has taken recently....I wouldnt be suprised if

Panasonic> Alpine

However, look into eclipse. As well as pioneer. Pioneer makes great budget decks as well as noice high end sutff...

Pioneer DEH-P6800MP or Eclipse CD3000?

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-YoOpFAK...HP680&x=33&y=2

In that case, Pioneer DEH-P6800MP or Eclipse CD3000? Are they appropriately comparable?
Not looking for something incredibly capable, just a quality upgrade from the stock.
I'm planning on adding 2 Infinity 10"s & Polk Audio db6500 component speaker system...hopefully either of these HUs will suffice.

i'd go with the pioneer. i have the premier version of that deck, but same difference really. it's pretty easy to navigate through, and sounds pretty good IMO.

Should be, with the exception of the 860/960 flops Pioneer is pretty dependable.

Within the last few years I have owned HU's from Eclipse (CD8454, CD8455), Pioneer (DEH-P8600MP x2), and Alpine (CDA-7998, CDA-9835). The sound that the Eclipse units produced I liked the most, more SQ oriented I believe. For me, the ones that were the easiest to use are the Alpine HU's. I did not like their current offerings, so I went with one from a couple years back. I do not see me changing this HU out for a while.

actually, on second look...try to get the premier version of that deck. it has a higher preout voltage. the 680MP is 4.0 compared to that 2.2 of the 6800MP.

I asked the same salesman about Pioneer and he said that quite a few had to be sent to shops for repair.
I inquired about Eclipse, and while they are good, he doesn't like the pink lighting.
From what I gather, Eclipse is the best, but Pioneer makes a budget-friendly, easy-to-use deck, although some units may have quality issues.
I hope people weren't voting on brand alone instead of comparing the specific units I listed.

I was basing it off of models listed. I will admit Pioneer has a fair amount more returns than Eclipse, but nonetheless still a solid product.

My vote still stays with the CD3000, which is also one of my best selling units for the budget minded. A few dozen out and none have returned with issues.

Salesman was really pushing this one.
I asked the same salesman about Pioneer and he said that quite a few had to be sent to shops for repair.

Why would you trust "the salesman" so much??? He/she can tell you anything - it does NOT mean that it is true. They get different margin on different brands/models .... so always be extra careful when they push you to buy something. Read reviews. Do your own research. Ask people, just like you did it here.

I've had MANY Pioneer units, including the 6xxx series. They were ALL great. I never had to send any of them to the shop. Also, i bought all of them "used" from Ebay. Some cost me $50, some $200. Never failed on me - not a single one.
I just bought a brand new Pioneer Premier 780P. I hope that it will be as good as all the old ones i had.

I understand - his objective is to sell the product he has in stock and, as you said, get the bigger margin. I happen put some worth in what he says because of the work he's done in friends' cars and the fact that he's the company's owner. Nonetheless, I'm always skeptical.
I've done additional online research (crutchfield, etc.), but I'm asking here for the more objective, expert opinions.

Then you should post that its YOUR opinion, despite the fact that its not even one of the options for this thread.

Keep up your attitude and youll find your stay here shortly lived.

Looks are subjective, ergo, cannot be proven. Your 'best' comment will need to be justified by functionality comparisons.
