Basing your choice of a HU on looks is just silly . The best HU's I've had in the last few years were my Eclipse units. Maybe not the "best" looking HU's, but I liked them, specially for the sound they produced. Had they been a little easier to use, I would still be running them. I will definately keep an eye out for future models....

i didnt use the f word but yea im so scared your going to ban me. lol but i dont want to get banned because i get some usefull info from time to time and you guys can really help sometimes. But then again it is true style is not for everyone, But then again functionality has something to do with it. All i was trying to say is alpine decks(some not all, look better in Maxima's than most of any other decks, and for all of you speaking of sound what is your comparison?

Noone said that you used the "F" word, I think its quite clear what you referred to me as. If statement is in fact true that you would like to stay here, then you need to take it down a notch. I will not tolerate crap like that at all. Especially targeted towards me. It simply wont last.

Form should follow function. If it doesnt for you, then so be it. If you think deck A looks better than deck B in a specific car thats your choice as well. Both of which are not useful to this thread. Loosen up your panties a bit and relax.

Probably using different decks with the same setup for starters...

Alight, time to take the gloves off...here's what it boils down to.

For instance, while your mother is a hog, she get the job done for me. So, not the best looking, but EXTREMELY functional whereas your sister is better looking, but not as good a lay. So, in simple terms:

Alpine:Your Sister::Eclipse:Your Mother

So, Neal, which one are you getting? If you get the DEH-P6800MP I may too. And we could be cool together and stuff. Yeah.

fukking stalker...

Well, you heard my "system"...or maybe not - my farts were killing you guys. I went the cheap route and got Pioneer speakers & Basslink with the stock HU. I know it isn't very good, but I'm hoping a new HU will help isolate the weaknesses. From there I'll probably upgrade the subs - Infinity or RF. These things are always a work in progress.

I'm having difficulty deciding which HU I want: I like the Pioneer (it's winning the poll too), but those who know better are pushing the Eclipse.

It's only cool if Fred does it too.

to the work in progress. I first want to get a new HU and then eventually upgrade my entire system. I just don't see the need to spend the extra cash on the Eclipse. I don't really see its benefits in my application. I think the Pioneer is good for me.

Goodluck with your project. Oh, and what sort of kit are you going to use. I have a GXE kit but would need something to fill the second DIN.

GXE kit?I need that? Is this what you speak of: http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...de=68750-VENTC

I wanted the clean double-din look, but i'll get the pocket for storage.

Like you said, the Pioneer seems to fit my application - I don't foresee using all of the features on a unit like the Eclipse.
Looks like I've made up my mind, thx.
