wHICH ONE, WHICH ONE??
ALPINE SWR-1242D (SWR1242D) OR the 2ohm version??
Has a loyal fan following
Pioneer Premier TS-W3004SPL
Rediculous RMS
Basically I'm just trying to have one 12'' powered by at least a 500 bridged RMS AMP (undecided). I'm not sure what kind of box would be best for either speaker setup, Sealed, Ported, bandpass? Any opinions are welcome.

Have you designed the box?

I've heard a few folks rave about thier Type R's being a great sub for the money.
As for the box setup up, I guess makign my own would be the better route than buying a ready made, Qlogic, mtx, etc box huh?

the premier will probably be louder, the alpine probably better quality. if you're just looking for SPL, then go for the Premeir, and build a nice big ported box, close to the pioneer's specs.

Cant tell you whether 2 or 4Ohm til you have an amp. Otherwise youll be limited to what amps you can use. Get the amp first.
Also since apparently your looking more for SPL, Id highly suggest getting your sub from a legit dealer. Beatin the h3ll out of a sub can lead to premature failure. Its always good to have a warranty.

Oh yeah on the legit dealer. those were the 1st site that came up when I searched for the amp. A friend of mine is going to give me one of his old amps laying around. IT's nothing to brag about but until I upgrade one I really like.
http://www.millionbuy.com/paklt9802.html << I believe thats it. Its not 2 ohm mono stable so I guess that limits me to a 4 ohm for now.
After I blow that amp up (which will prob be soon..lol), and put more audio money aside, this will give me the perfect excuse to go on a shopping spree via Don the great one. I hear you're the man to talk to in these parts.

(dumb question alert.. but u know what the say, the dumb question is the one not asked..) SO you're saying if the AMP is not 2 ohm stable, I should get the 2 ohm stable amp? or the 2 ohm sub?
Either case, the amp is a free and I just wanted a sub to work with it that I can also use later.

You need the 2Ohm version sub. Since its DVC..2Ohm in series will yield a 4Ohm load on the amp.If you did the 4Ohm version sub, then you would only have the options of 2 or 8Ohm load.

Correction... I actually read the stats on said free amp. It IS 2 Ohm stable. Does this change the wiring options? I've decided to go with the Alpine Type R: ALPINE SWR-1222D 12 2 Ohm version if this info helps. Thanks in Advanced.

Then you need the 4Ohm version if it is 2Ohm MONO stable. Make sure your reading correctly and it does in fact state MONO , not STEREO.
