Woofer mounting question?
Woofer mounting question?
Okay guys, gotta simple question for ya.... What is the difference in mounting a sub with the cone facing the inside of the enclosure verses the cone facing outwards like most of us mount them? I have wondered about this but never asked... Seems like you would not get much bass responce with the cone facing inside or is that the point of it??
Thanks guys, and sorry if this is a repost..

There really is no reason, it's really just for preference, based on certain factors.
The first reason would be looks. Maybe the basket structure of the sub is appealing and people want to show it off.
Second, perhaps the user wants to utilize the airspace in the box to the fullest so that the sub does not displace any cubic footage.
I'm sure there are more reasons, but this is what I've got.
To add, you would have to invert the polarity of the signal going to the subs if you were to invert the firing direction of the sub.

The post above yours is correct. Subs should sound the same inverted (minuse having a lil more airspace to work with...often not a bad thing) . The same cone moving the same air. Better yet, try it yourself. remount your sub, invert the phase, and tell us if you hear a difference. I wouldn't count on it....
It's supposed to sound the same. BBOYSTEVIE is correct in stating that doing it in your box you have now may sound a little louder because your speaker isn't displacing any internal volume, but I don't think it would make a tremendous difference.

anyhow, i also thought about inverting my sub. but after more thought about the setup, i'd lose even more trunk space if i did invert it.
