Just got two sets of Sony speakers

Got sony xs-v1642A
I have to say thast I am disappointed with the sound.
The sound is really weak and bass is pretty bad, I thought with 270watt peak power it would kick ***. I guess I was wrong. BTW I have a pioneer headunit.
My bro with similar head unit w/ stock crappy civic stock speakers has stronger base.

Peak power is only 1 of many variables that affect the loudness. Speaker sensitivity, amplifier quality and output, crossover point and slope, head unit output voltage, even wire thickness can all have an effect. I can't comment on Sony speakers specifically as I generally prefer much higher quality. Also, it may be obvious to most, but loudness does not equal sound quality. Acheiving both can while staying within a budget can be a difficult balancing act.

You should never look at peak power to determine loudness. Peak Power is just the amount of power the speakers could handle in a very short burst of power. RMS is what you should always look for. Also, you should probably look into getting some other kind of speakers, because sony speakers are not known for being quality.

You didnt demo them before leaping?

Peak power is only what they *may* handle. In Sonys case...Highly overrated.

A speaker doesnt produce power, an amplifier does. You can't get any "watts" from a speaker.

Your pioneer HU is feeding them about 15-20 watts each.
