VSS on a 98 i30t?

Hey guys,

I'm installing a Pioneer D1 in a 98 I30t and am having probs getting a good VSS lead. I tried the pink/blue wire in the gauge cluster and the navi is reading speeds about half of what I'm actually traveling at (at 23-25 mph on the speedo it's reading about 11-12mph on the Navi vehicle dynamics screen).

Is this the correct lead for the car or is there another location? I've tried searching 12volt's site and it tells me to use the pink/blue from the CCM under the dash. I tried that (I believe its the silver box same height as the steering column but mounted close to the center console) and got the same results.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

That one always worked for me. Although IIRC theres two of them, did you confirm having the correct one?

Hmmm... I only saw the one back there. It's one of the last pins on the connector that's behind the tach. Does that sound right?

Yep, the connector had a brown ring around it. Strange. I just pulled this out of another car (jetta) in which it was working just fine.

Is there a wire on the ECU I need to use? That harness is a pain to get to, tho...

Ok, now that I know I'm dealing with the right wire, I did some more poking around. I reset the speed pulse and 3d calibration in the Navi setup menu and that did the trick. I guess it needed to recalibrate for the different car?

Thanks for your help, it works beautifully!
