Okay, I had a previous thread in which I was concerned about my amp overheating because my subs stopped working one day. Well yesterday, I started my car (after it being parked in my garage). I drove down the road, and both my speakers and my subs started to turn off and on. I powered of the stock HU and turned it back on, and it started doing it again, but eventually it stopped. I noticed it the week before start to repeat the same word over and over again on a new cd, but when I replayed the song it didn't do it again.

Any ideas on what could be my problem? I am thinking that the problem lies with the HU, battery, or alt. I have one amp running my speakers and a mono amp running my 2 12"s, and both amps have seperate power wires that run directly to the battery and both are grounded on the same bolt.

Sounds like something is loose. How are all of your connections made? Is it one power wire ran through a distro block? What kind of distro block etc.

if its your eletrical system. your headlights and interior lights will flicker or dim out with the music. The Cd skipping sounds like,.......well your cd was skipping. It would seem to me that that is unrealed to the speakers/subs powering off. Check your voltage levels going to your amps.

Two power wires, no distrobution blocks. Both wires run from battery to amps. All connections are tight, however I have about 3 or 4 things grounded to one bolt, and the ground wire for my mono sub doesn't have a connector. I just stripped the wire and tightened it down.

i think your problem is your grounding method, try using seperate grounding points, and make sure you sand the paint off, and of course make sure there screwed down tightly

The grounding point is sanded down and tightened....sooo, would seperate grounding bolts help or not? I don't get the joke... >('^')<

i dont see why not, in my system i have i have 3 seperate ground points, 1 for the second battery, 1 for my mtx 1501d, and 1 for my mtx 4 channel amp.. i have no dimming or any sort of engine whine, or any other problem that seem to plague stereos.

Then your a Very lucky person. Multiple grounding points are asking for issues with grounding loops.
