Viper 791xv Problems

Well I installed a Viper 791xv on my car a few months ago and everything was working fine. Then I installed a Capacitor for my amp like 3 months ago. For the last month or so I have been having nothing but trouble with my alarm. At first my alarm was reacting to the commands from the transmitter but the transmitter was not receiving. Everytime that happened I disconnected the antenna for a few seconds and reconnected and it worked fine. Now just recently I've noticed that the only time my remote will recieve and info is if I press a button.

Example: pressing lock makes the transmitter beep and the doors look. However if you try locking the doors again the alarm isn't supposed to do it again since it's already locked. but it does it everytime as if the transmitter doesn't know that the alarm is armed.

Also if my alarm goes off the transmitter doesn't even page me!!!! That's a huge problem. I don't know if it's a problem with the brain, antenna, or pager. Help plz....Pearl96 or somebody.

somewhat common remote problem. Its a warranty covered issue, but since you installed it...not so sure..

So I just replace the remote? Will the problem return?

Yes. Most likely not, but it is possible.

You can try resetting the brain by touching all the pins to each other. The one time I installed a 791 in which the remote transmitted but didnt respond, DEI tech said to do that to reset the brain, and it worked, but theres also a chance you could fry your brain and youd have no warranty since it was DIY. So do this at your own risk. Dealer installation and lifetime warranty FTW.
