need remote start help (kinda urgent)
hey guys, im installing my remote start (literally im in my car lol) and im stuck on something. I found my 12vt constant (well i think now...) as a red and white in the harness like the diagrams say. I probed it and it was a constant 12v, cool. So i follow my dvd for my system like i did for my civic when i had it in there, and i tap the two on the unit to the single on the car.
But now i am onto the two start wires needing to go into the single on the unit. The DVD says these two wires should only have 12v when the car is cranking. Problem is the yellow and black (i didnt check the other 1 yet) has a constant 12v.....wtf? The harnes ii am using doesnt go straight to the ignition but rather to a block why the headlights. Reason being i dont see the colors i need in the other one. So now im totally confused.
The pics below are, in order, The harness i am using, the wire giving me 12v that i assume is the starter wire 1 and shouldnt be consant, and the last is the harness that goes right to the ignition that maybe i need to be using instead?
thnx guys i only got a few hours to get it done so i appreciate all the help in advance.

oh ok, the chart shows too i guess they change somewhere along the line. Now why is the yellow black constant? Does that need to be hooked in with the other 12v constant for the ignition? Also what do some of them mean when they say double pulse? my civic was so much easier lol
system is in but im onto another problem. The brake wire is hooked up, but my car wont remote start unless my foot is on the brake. I know from the fact that it does when the brake is depressed the wires are connected and getting signal, but obviously it should work in that the car shuts off if i remote start then touch the brake (as it did in the other car).
I can only assume its a polarity issue, but i am unsure how to correct it and their tech support is closed....

yea i said *** it and bypassed the brake safety wire completely. All it does it keep someone from pressing the brake without they key in the ignition as a theft deterrent. Im smart enough to member the key lol.
I didnt hook up the power lock switch yet as apparently i need to take the door apart and tap the wires at the switch so i will do that monday or something.
thnx for all the help

Umm big Negative. The brake wire also tells the unit to deactivate as the car has taken over when you depress it. If your car stalls while driving dont be surprised. So PLEASE do not attempt to drive your car after you remote started it.
w/ brake wire bypassed it also wont turn off when i stop and take the key out, as it doesnt know i ever even got in the car. The bypass was kind of a temp see if it worked kinda thing i have to take it all back out to do the door wires anyway.
So pearl what do i do about the brake wire

It's really easy, you're just making it sound all complicated.
Yea i verified it but it wouldnt work. I ended up just now tapping one of the brakelight wires and now it works perfectly. For some reason the red/green was testing 12v when the brake pedal was depressed, as it should, but once it was tapped it no longer had 12v when the brake pedal was down. Now it does again. I have never seen that before.
Ok last but not least, the locks. Is there a spot inside the car i can tap into them or do i have to phish the wires through the jamb and into the drivers door?

Im still thinking it was the incorrect wire. Its not possible to work at the tails and not at the switch. WHat do you think the source for the taillights is??
Go in the doors.
Go in the doors.
It doesnt make sense to me either but its red and black and in the one switch at the brake pedal. I'm not the only one who looked at it either. Friend of my dads has a shop and hes been doing installs (much like you) for years hes the one that said it made no sense and told me to tap the wire i ended up using. Its in the other switch on the pedal, not the red n yellow but the other one.
I'll go into the doors, thanks again

what is red/black or red/yellow???? Neither of those are the correct wires to begin with. Of literally Hundreds of Maximas that Ive done Ive never seen a problem remotely close to this. With that said ( dont take offense) I would honestly say installer error until Im proven otherwise.
No offense taken, im by no means in a position to argue it isnt lol. When i said red/black it was a typo, i meant red/green. The red/yellow wire isnt the one im using but it shares the plug/switch with the one i am and i cant member the color.
OK so door locks are wired. It locks fine but the locks dont unlock although the unit kicks in, so i am wondering what does the chart mean by double pulse, and is that the problem?
As a side note maybe this should be added to a sticky somewhere. I mean ive screwed the pooch a few times and violated every safety feature the system has at one point or another, so this would be a great "DONT DO THIS" sticky.

found a sequence for double pulse programming, its not in the book and tech support said it wasnt on this model but google prevailed. I noticed as i tucked the unit away that the lowest of the three blue relays (see pics 1 and two) will "click" if the box is josled hard enough......wats that relay for because color me stupid but i cant see that being a good thing. i quadruple checked all wires and everything is cleanly connected and individually taped so nothing is touching.
