New System in progress

Hey all,

I am currently working on adding a new system to the Max. My plans are to keep the bose head unit and replace almost everything else. All of the parts that I am using I already had from my last car are as follows:

Components: Massive 5.25
Amp for highs/mids: Massive 4.25

Subs: 2 Orion 10"xtr in custom box
Sub amp: Concept 500w mono block

Scoche LOC

I have installed the tweeters in the stock location and just wired them to the stock wires for now, they already sound amazing, and I cant wait to get my massive amp in and some better quality wires. I connected a Scoche (SLC-4) adaptor so I can have RCA cables for my sub. What I did was connect the scoche to the stock sub's (+) and (-) and my amp to the stock subs remote wire. What this does is it adds a pre-amp to the signal wire which allows decent to good sound quality. The subs fired up and sounded amazing with little to no tuning yet. Within the next week I will add my other amp, the 5.25, crossovers, new wires, amp racks, and clean up the wiring.

Everyone says that the weak link of the stock system is the HU but right now I dont have the money to replace it. So far, is working excellent. I have faith that when I am completed I will have a very good sounding system with the factory HU. I will add pics soon as it is pouring rain right now. I will update the thread within the next week as I add more and I will take pics as well. I hope everyone enjoys the write up and progress.

I wont disagree that the factory HU is the weak link, there are issues with it, but this route is working pretty good so far.

Take pics of how you add the sub to the factory head unit. I would be interested in adding just a small amp and sub (nothing as extravagant as some of you guys )

He's just doing that because he knows he's in the same boat as you.

I'm rocking the stock HU right now as well - but only until i have saved enough dough for the unit i want.

The very FIRST thing i noticed when i switched from a/m unit (even my crappy JVC) back to stock, was how incredibly messy it sounded, immediately. That and the fact that you can't fine tune anything with the stocker. just something to think about..
