How many amps do our alts put out at idle?
#2
At different RPM's, I have no idea. I'm getting a rebuilt alt put in today, and all the autoparts stores I called have them rated at 110 A. Even the dealer couldn't tell me how many amps the Nissan alt produced.

They make aftermarket ones. They sometimes call them welding alts and they are usually for offroad vehicles that have lots of aux power demands (like welders). I very very briefly looked into them and decided that I didn't want to mess with getting one to fit.

Actually i don't think alt's put out very much at idle speed.... My alt is rated at 125amps, probaly puts out 20-40amps at idle 100 or so at 2000-4000rpms and 125 at 6000rpms...... I know for a fact that what an amp is rated at is for the maximum rpms.. (125amp alt. puts out 125amps at 6000rpms)

Got a pretty good deal on a group buy from Realmofexcursion.com (http://www.excessiveamperage.com/) $390 shipped for a 200 amp alt that makes 100 at idle.
