Nothing but problems/Engine Noise
Nothing but problems/Engine Noise
I finally installed my screen and needed a dvd player to hook up to it so I bought a DC inverter. I hardwired it off of my switched 12v Sony deck wire and grounded it on a nearby screw. I have 17foot grounded rca audio cables going from my deck the dvd player and I get tremendous engine noise when revving. I just noticed yesterday that my "radio" mode is also doing the same thing. It doesn't happen when on "cd" mode. Is there a way to resolve this? I grounded the RCA ground wire on the bolt on the passenger seat since the dvd player is under the passenger seat and I grounded the other end in the same place I grounded the inverter. What is my problem? I think i may have done something wrong. Is the switched ACC wire to my deck a good place to get power to my inverter? The dvd player works without any problems.
probably not the best place to get acc from only because a inverter will require ATLEAST 10-12 guage in order to function properly and a radio acc is only 16-18. I would try getting a acc from the ignition harness.
Well, first recommendation would be to go back to the ground points and sand them down to BARE metal. Your grounds may be crap due to the paint coating which would be inhibiting proper electron flow.
If it's a grounding problem then why did it only start when I added the inverter? Could it be an eloctromagnet field problem? Should I move the inverter farther from the CD deck?
