Who wants fiberglass kicks for their MAX????

Okay everyone i am teaming up with a local company here in Kansas called Quadrafinity Engineering LLC. and they have agreed to produce kicks for our Maximas. They will be hand built from MDF and fiberglass and color matched to your interior. I am needing to know how many of you would want these for your car so i can gauge intrest before orders are placed. It looks as though the price will START at around $300 a pair.

Let me know what you think and any suggestions will be great.

Keep Krusin,
Chef

A few things to consider:

Painted or wrapped finish?
Flush-cut recess baffle or flat baffle?
Baffle diameter?
Aimed where?
Coupled w/ dome?

...hope this takes off for ya, dude. $300 is a VERY fair price.

Wrapped in vinyl or carpet with routered mdf rings for recessed mounting of your 6.5" or smaller sized drivers with an adapter. they would be aimed at the drivers right ear but could theoretically be custom built to your specs. there are no plans at the moment for tweeter intagration.

If you guys value SQ, IT'S WORTH it.

I found a way around this with my 3-way, otherwise I'd have done this by now.

Who said anything about 3 ways, depending on depth these should be able to handle most of your 6.5"s guys three ways would be ideal and yes that is what Greg’s (Maxchef) beautiful sounding Max has now. For the benefits of kick panel speaker locations do a little research on (Path Length difference). I'll see what I can do about pictures for you guys as soon as I am able. Anyway I'm here now so I should be able to answer any questions and keep everyone informed on progress.

Thanks
Justin

Thanks JJ for chiming in. You guys have to see and hear this companies stuff to fully understand exactly what is being produced here. I dont just use run or the mill stuff in my Max, these guys are going to put SQ back on the map where it belongs and by using them and their products i feel its safe to say that i will be around for years to come in the SQ world of both home and car audio by just using their products.
Jj....... Man do your thang!

I would strongly consider a pair myself depending on what the 5th gen version looks like and how bulky they are for a manual tranny space concerns. Only interested in a platform for a midrange driver(6.5" would be pushing it) , not tweeter however.

Sorry no actual carbon fiber kicks planned at the moment, or near future for that matter. what we could do is wrap them in a vinyl that is a dead ringer for real carbon fiber. I’ll see if I can find some pictures of that. I'm very glad to see this kind of positive and immediate response. Looks like we might be putting in some overtime around here this weekend.

Oh also you wouldn't have to use 6.5 speakers. For smaller sizes we have different step down adapters that mount to your speaker then to the 6.5 hole in the kicks. If you have an off sized driver all we would need is your actual cut out dia. to make them work.

i'm making my own, but it'd be nice to see some love for the 3rd gen. the only problem i foresee is that not all 6.5 inchers are created equal.

You are exactly correct about the driver sizes, but c'mon man before making prejugdement responses read the whole thread first at least! They said that they would do them for a third gen!!!!!!!!!!.If you think that they are over priced then simply dont purchase any and then you can make your own while everyone else is enjoying theirs!!!!!!

i read the thread. it's just that if you cruise through the group deals forum, all gens usually means 4th through 6th. 3rd genners are usually overlooked. also, i didn't say they were overpriced. trust me, i know the how much work is involved in making good kicks. good luck with these.

not a bad price considering. i used to charge just under that to make them for people in my old car forum. and with the increase in staging it is well worth it. I know firsthad, not from theirs but a set of kicks is what the doc ordered.
