I've got a Kenwood CX-87 changer hooked up to an X717 reciever, but the changer never comes up on the receiver. Everything's connected, and when I hit the reset button on the reciever, I can hear the changer doing stuff. It ejects the magazine fine and seems to respond the the reset signal, so I'm fairly certain it's hooked up right. Anyone have ideas on how to fix it or rule out the changer being a dud?

Did you get both the deck and changer at the same time?

Try this: push and hold button 6, then with a ball point pin push and hold the reset button, it's located right next to the "/" button.

Also, when you are trying to play a cd from the cd changer are you pressing the source button to access the changer?

Yep, just got both about two weeks ago. I tried the 6+reset button combo and got the same thing as just doing reset: the receiver resets and the changer makes some whirring noises. Then when I hit the source button, it only toggles through tuner, cd, and all off- no changer.

Take it back where you bought it and exchange it for a new one...

Pretty much the same verdict I got from Kenwood. Guess I better go find my rachet so I can yank the front seat again...
