my set up.
arc 4150 4 ch
arc 12d2 dual vc
rainbow slcs
eclipse cd3000 hu
my set up is a lil outta whack...installed it with knoledgeable people but not a shop.
i have my 4 (182w per channel) channel bridged to run my front stage and my one 12.
i know im not getting enough power to my sub. i dont really know why...so i went to a local shop that does good work. the guy sugested that i might have to go with a single voice coil sub instead of the dual i have now. he mentioned that i would be running a "hotter" signal to a single vc sub, hence getting more power
i am not very good with audio. as you guys can tell. im pretty sure the sub i have now is more than adiquit for my needs but something is wrong with my set up.
any imput apriciated...thoughts/ sugestions...tell me if more info is needed.
thanks
alex

On the sub you should have One positive to the other sides negative. The remaining positive and negative are what gets connected to the amp. That will put that sub at 4Ohm in which case the amp is feeding it a conseratively rated 320... more than enough to get that sub sounding great. Before changing any products I would look at the enclosure. What are the specs of it?
If it was wired at 1 ohm he'd be getting more output and the arc would be running hotter than normal.
Now you said your comps are running BRIDGED? You need to have the front left to the left side front right to the right side then bridge the rear to the sub. Wire the sub the way pearl96max recommended and you will be good to go.

im sure that i have it wired up the way u described don...
ill take pics of my amp settings as soon as a get a chance...
a far as my box, its a sealed set up, prolly a cubic foot maybe a lil less. i think its not the box.
if skiierr(sp?) would step in here...he knows how i am running my ish, he helped me set it up...

Yeah Don,
I have no idea whats wrong with his setup. I heard it the other day and I would have to say it was weaker then my Atlas 15" in and 3.5 Ported box. I know how a sealed box is suppose to sound and all too I don't know what is going on with his ish.
Alex I have enough wood to make another box. The whole problem is I don't have the tools for it. HAHA Yeah let me know what you want to do.

If something doesnt sound 'right' then its possibly the way its wired, but it cant be done wrong in to many ways. IF it was done in parallel...the amp would be running at 1Ohm giving alot more power and Would indeed shut down as its not designed to do so.
Enclosure makes up 90% of how a sub performs. The size may be ok, so then check for leaks..
The box sounds like it's a little small for a 12in, you can add some poly fill to trick it into thinking the box is bigger. I would second the motion of checking the wiring to the sub, make sure all the positve and negatives are hooked up correctly. Check amp settings, crossover points, boost/cut etc....

For That specific 12 it is a bit small, but to say too small "for a 12" would be speaking very broadly. Theres tons out there that would take even less space than that.
