reinstalling stock bose, extra wire (Grey/White)

Morning guys,

Im replacing my stock bose HU after my aftermarket got stolen. I printed out the wire colors and matched everything up. I seem to have a extra wire that is grey with white stripes.

when i started the car up, i heard the radio searching for cd's but nothing happend (no cd's in the tray)

The radio display is off. tried hitting radio but got no sound at all. cant tell if power button is working, nothing happens when i hit it.

When i turned on the Heater the display lights on the heater worked, when I turned on the headlights the display on the heater went off.

Something is jacked.

Any ideas on the extra wire or lighting?

thanks

Pictures would help. Is the grey wire coming from the car or coming out from the Bose HU? Did they just snip the harness???

the grey/white wire is coming out of the car's wire collection.

i matched up with the picture from here for the 2000-2004 bose.

http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/157919

notice there is no mention of a grey with white stripes (assuming G is green and G/W is green with white stripes)

so i have all those wires plugged into the back of the bose HU, and I have one wire that is grey w/ white stripes coming out of the same group of wires.

They pulled out the a-m wiring harness. So I have the antenna (big circle) plugged in.

The left white plastic piece (numbered 11-16 on the picture i href'd) with those wires attached an plugged in.

and then the 10 loose wires (numbered 1-10 on the right picture). I plugged these wires one at a time into their associated slots on the back of the HU. Should these ten have a harness like the left wires (11-16)? (White plastic piece holding all 10?)

So after i plug the 10 loose wires in, there is a grey w/ white stipe left over.

If this doesnt help, ill try and take a pic. Since i didnt install the am HU i have no idea what it should look like back there.

Thanks, any help is appreciated.

Pictures of what it looks like behind the dash. Wires don't get plugged in one at a time, they go into a harness that plugs into the back of the head unit.

Yea, the harness looks exactly like the diagrams you posted, and its shaped exactly like the rectangular hole behind the bose HU.

Ok...

The way you're doing it would work in theory, but you have to be 100% the wires are matched up correctly. I suggest just hitting a junkyard and snipping off a harness. What it's supposed to look like is the white plug right next to it.

Thanks, i called a nissan dealer and get this, the only thing they sale is the ENTIRE wire set, for the tune of $1499.00, yep, 15 hundy for the wire set, but the guy in parts is looking around for some spairs/junk for me. He also mentioned a junkyard.

So back to the orginal question,

What is the grey wire with white stripes?
