Since my car has the bose system which has it's own amplifiers....would an Eclipse head unit work?

ANY aftermarket HU will work, BUT you must use adapters made to convert to the Bose amplified speakers.

Eclipse isn't just any aftermarket unit...it's not amplified. Meaning it doesn't have it's own amp. Get what I'm saying?

From my understanding, there are converters that use RCA OR line level outputs on HU's to change over to the half ohm needed for the BOSE ( Bose run at 1 half ohm). No other brand run that low meaning that for ANY aftermarket HU to work, it MUST use a converter even if they don't have an internal amp.Eclipse are no different than any other HU. Get what I'm saying?

I have an Eclipse head unit and I'll tell you what. I think they are one of the best head units there are. Eclipse does have its own amp by the way. They push out like 12-15w X 4. You would think that is not that much because most head units say like 60w X 4. I don't even think there is a head unit out there that will push 60w X 4. They say it because it would be the max with hella distortion. Eclipse has like 15w X 4 with clearity and purity. I always trust a company that doesnt try to pull some lying twisted bullshït! You must get the converter to throw the head unit connected to the Boss mids though. I hope I helped you a bit. Eclipse forever!!!

Actually, it depends on the model of Eclipse you are looking at. Originally, I had planned to get a 4502 head unit which does not have an amplifier. Now I have a 4441 which does. Either way, it sounds pretty good.

Actually, the "better" models of different HU brands don't have the internal amp. Helps keep the signal pure, and allow more room for better D|A converters, more features, etc.....

I'm not saying you don't, but with most brands, the top end models lack an internal amp.
