Capacitor Question
Capacitor Question
I have an Audiobahn 1500w(yea right) amp, and a aw1206t 12' Audiobahn sub. I believe this is a class A/B amp and it pulls a crapload of power. I am getting a bit of light dimming overall. Not really that bad but bad nonetheless. I added a Piece of Crap 1.5farard capacitor to my power line and it didn't help. I think it's because I paid $15 for it NEW on ebay. No Name brand. Anyways. I have added an extrra ground wire to my negative terminal to the frame and I didn't notice a difference with that. My meter on the capacitor shows a costant 13.8 volts with the car running and no sound. When the bass is coming thru it can get down to 12 volts with the car on. I've never seen it go lower than that.
What's your recommendation? Better cap first? New battery? Yellow top?
I know this topic has been covered a few times but I want an answer for my personal situation. Please help. Thanks guys.

So if I don't have enough dough to get a new amp then what battery should I get? It doesn't seem easy to upgrade the big 3 on the max....Alt isn't easy to get to.
Also that amp only cost me $125...Do have have a better amp for that price? The amp is good...it just eats voltage.

You could have saved up a bit more or used the money you spent on the cap in addition to that to get something a tad bit better. There's things to meet anyones budget, you just have to look around for the right deals.
As far as batteries, wal-mart's maxx battery the Maxx 75-N has quite a bit of cca's and is a solid battery, fits right in on the maxima. Less than $70 installed.

What would you recommend in the Class D mono section that would kick out at least 700rms for less than $200? I say class d because they tend to pull less power. Phoenix Gold possibly?
Thanks for the help guys. I just bought a Phoenix Gold Octane-R15.0:1
I think that should be more than enough and it's Class D so it should pull less power and be much louder than that crappy audiobahn Class A/B

Somebody asked what the big 3 is but I guess they deleted the post. It took me a while to find it but:
"The Big 3" is simply upgrading or adding additional heavy gauge wiring to your electrical system to make up for old-high-resistance factory wires. You upgrade the Battery-to-Chassis wire. The Battery-to-Alt wire. And the engine/alt-to-chassis wire. By doing so, most people notice that their lights may be brighter or not dim as often as before. It's a simple and cheap upgrade.
