Few question about base

Its been 2 weeks since i got my 1100 watt subwoofer in the trunk. its actually one of those fiberglass box where the speaker is inside and there is a base port in middle.

From inside the car i hear/feel really clean and nice base, minus the vibration sounds that is. But when i go directly at the back, open the trunk it sounds really bad..not too much base etc.

if i go directly infront of the car, like at the hood i hear really clean and good base.

Also before i had the base in the trunk, my car drove really sweeet without any rattle or sweaking sounds. Today i noticed..well forgot my cd home and went to work without music. I noticed alot of sweaking sound coming from the back. like screw or something is loose. I kinda dont wanna blame the base, but is this normal..happen to anyone before?

Thanks!

damnnnit, i was making base plates for a electronic plane about 5mins before i posted

I'll just have to start walking around pushing and pulling to see if ican figure out whats causing the sweaking sounnd

What about not hearind bass from rear??
does that have to do with the bandpass?

What do you mean haering bass from the rear? The sound is NOT supposed to come out of the car, it's supposed to be inside of the car. We don't build systems to be heard, we build systems to please our ears and have quality sound. Most of us don't compete here, and those that do take the proper measures IE) sound deadening etc..

i understand your point, but what if someone want to listen to music out of the car?? ..ohh my bad i'll walk with a radio and get a ac/dc convertor plug it in and listen on the outside?

or i can manually lift the speaker out(longer wires) put it on the ground/floor?

or turn the car inside out...

Thanks.

Car audio is not meant to be heard outside of the car. A P/A system would be. What you would do in that sceneraio is open your windows and open your trunk, or face the car in the direction you want the sound going.

I don't really understand the need to have the car providing music to an outside venue.

Also, of course it won't sound as good when the trunk is open. The sound waves are dissipating into open air versus being reverberated through the car.

i apologize, but he started it ..i;m sorry i should have just ignore it..really sorry

anyways..
Ive googled up and found out the difference with bandpass designs vs regular box designs.

like slickrick said bandpass do reallly suck for out of car sound. Its really meant for bouncing waves backwards.
A simple box with 2 round hole(bass ports) will sound rreally good with your trunk open but if ur trunk is close all ur going to hear is the crackling sound in the truck.

ive figured out a nice solution to get around the bandpass

in the middle of my seat there is a drop down cusion thingy(maybe hand rest is a word for it) when u drop it down i want to put a nice hole there and buy a plastic bass port and stick it in

that way if im cleaning my backyard and want some music i'll open the doors and drop that hand rest thingy down.

Thanks all

bandpass box does not suck...if they're designed properly. and for the love of god it's spelled basS.

if you want it loud outside the car, wall the enclosure off.

keep in mind though the wall might decrease the amount of bass getting into the cabin.

Throw some new subs in it and remove the glass......

On a side note, the DLS seemed to have broken in a little bit, not sounding too bad...

what is dls??

i'm thinking of putting pioneer subs in it and see how it sounds then if its still bad i'll just buy new enclosure..but at the moment i have my college bill to pay. Will do that after i;m done paying..most likely in a month.

Whats a decent pair of subs? something below 200..but not too cheap that would burst or sound bad.

My current amp is a legacy predator 2000 watts..kinda a cheap brand rite?

Thanks
