How good is JVC head units

thinking of buying one. How's music quality comparing to stock stereo non bose(cassete cd). I really like the look of this one

http://cgi.ebay.ca/JVC-ARSENAL-KD-AR...QQcmdZViewItem

not to flashy. No pimped out display(like pioneer). classy look.
so whats your opinion

short answer: crappy.

couldn't pull enough highs out of my amped rainbow components with it, and the treble was cranked..

other than that, they have bugs galore and a bad track record.

steer away...

I personally have owned the JVC Arsenal KD8350 Headunit for about 3 years now and don't have any of the problems listed above. I don't suggest using HU power to power components cuz it's only 50watts per channel so I always had an external amp to power my highs, mids, and lows. When using the stock power use simple speakers until you can afford to expand (going with comps and an amp or use the stock speakers until you find better) My system sounds perfect and you expand it even more with a 12 disk changer with MP3 capability. Seriously I like JVC headunits and it was a simple HU that I had. I have intentions to stay within the JVC line because everyone that I heard sounded good when properly accessorized. My JVC HU runs two amps (one for my Solobarics s12L5'S and the other for my rear speakers) and it powers the 3.5" speakers in my camry. I get compliments on my entire system not just the bass but the highs also so I disagree with the statement above.

black97, do what you will. But i will tell you that the people with the best/award winning systems on this board do NOT use JVC anything in their car.

9 out of 10 people are happier with a pioneer/eclipse/alpine piece. the companies that are thriving today in terms of car audio HU's.

I have that unit. Never had a problem with it. If you're not running competitions or tryign to spend big bucks, I see nothing wrong with it.

Alpine units have gone to crap in this year, the upper line JVC's are nice and have the same features and some have the same DAC's as Pioneer/Eclipse. Like some1 said, if your gonna use it just to play CD's or power a sub or two, it'll prolly do you good.

Actually, I like my JVC Aresenal (940?) a lot better than the stock Bose I pulled out.

You'll hear enough bad things about any brand given enough people actually buy it. Can't please everyone.

what?

Ive barely heard anything bad about pioneer, and eclipse. the new Alpine units are sub-par (only becuase of features, not reliability), but are way above JVC, and the older Alpine units were fantastic.

I have a JVC Exad. Couldn't be happier. So many different things you can do to this head unit. Except I just found out that a bunch are fritzing out and you have to get a new one free of charge.

iN MY OPINION... THEY'RE ONLY AS GOOD AS THE PERSON SELLING IT... NUFF SAID BUY REPUTABLE... I PERSONALLY LIKE ALPINE, ECLIPSE AND KENWOOD... AND IF YA WANT GOOD SOUND FROM N E H/U LOOK FOR ONE THAT HAS FRONT REAR AND SUBWOOFER LOW LEVEL OUTPUTS... THEY USUALLY HAVE VERSATILITY WHEN IT COMES TO TUNING....

Saw JVC KD-SH1000 in person last night. Looks/feels great, specs look good too. It was hooked up to a custom DSP (Bongiovi Digital Power Station (BDPS) by Bongiovi Acoustics), and sounded great.

Nice caps.

I only have front and rear outputs and no processing. Does that make my unit not so good for sound quality?

Lol seems like you don't have a clue. How does the amount of channels = a good unit? Throw 3 outputs on a jensen and call it good? Nah don't think so.

There's too many other factors that you fail to mention, how about you educate us on what you know. I think instead of being such an antagonist you need to open up your mind and learn a bit.

He can try, but with his current attitude I see his stay here as being short lived.

Aside from that, I cannot stand liars. He never called and it was indeed a full house at the shop today....

Yes, people come here for help, so we advise them AGAINST Alpine because of their decrease in quality over the past few years, among many other things.

Dont pick fights you cant win.
