revamping my stereo, have some questions + lemme know what you think
Ok, as of now I have a very good stereo setup.
Headunit: Pioneer DEH-P7600MP
Speakers: shotty bottom of the line eclipses
Subwoofer: 12" Resonant Engineering SE
Amp: Alpine MRD-M501
So I'm looking into getting new speakers, headunit, and probably some dynamat and maybe a capacitor. And the stuff I was looking into is:
New Headunit: Pioneer DEH-P7800MP (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-7gLuwHg...0&I=130DEHP780)
New Speakers: 6-1/2: Infinity Reference 6012i (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-7gLuwHg...12i&i=1086012I)
6x9: Infinity Reference 9613i (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-7gLuwHg...13i&i=1089613I)
What do you guys think of that equipment? Also, is it worth my money to invest in a cap? I've heard good things and I've also heard its not worth it.

With the price of the 7800, might as well get the 880PRS from Don(pearl96max), as well as some Eclipse comps + coax from Don or even rainbows.
Give us some details on your budget, that will fix everything.
Btw no need for a cap.

as far as my budget goes, i dont really want to spend more than 300 bucks for all the speakers. and as for the headunit, i like that pioneer one because it has 3 5-volt preouts and a 16 band equalizer...plus i already have the aux adapter so i dont need to spend more money there to get my ipod to work. and the price for it on crutchfield is 319. thats not too bad.
ive considered gettin comps for the front doors, but i dont know too much about them. i know they come with their own x-overs and separate tweeters, but wouldnt you have to amp them to get the most from them?

You would want to amp them but with the pio's output you could get away without amping them for a while, I'm sure. The problem I see here is that there really won't be that much of an upgrade from what you currently have in going to the new equipment.
The speakers would cost about $370 shipped from Don, comps, and coax's included.
I think the 880 can be had for not too much more than what you'd spend on the 7800 and its two steps up.

well there's the 9800bt hu above the 7800, then the 880 is above that. check out the premier line at www.pioneerelectronics.com 880 has dual 16 band eq's, longer warranty etc.
