Tweeter Question

I have an 01 max AE w/ bose. So far I've removed the stock sub and installed an alpine 500 watt mono amp and a 12w6v2 in a ported enclosure built to JL specs (got the sub cheap). Everything else is stock. I'd like to improve my highs, I know components are best but i'm low on funds.

What is the ohm rating and sensistivity # for the stock bose tweeters? If I replace just the tweeters will this improve the overall sound? If so any reccomendations for a tweet that would fit in the stock location and blend with the stock 6.5's?

If this was already addressed in another thread could you direct me to it? Thanks

I dont know offhand the impedance of the tweeters on their own, as Ive never done what you are trying to do.
I do know however, that just about any tweeter will fit in the pillar of a 5th gen. The largest Ive put behind the 5th gen pillar are the 1.02 inch Rainbow Cal 26's, which are quite large and were a tight fit, but did work fine behind the stock grill.

I'd save up for at LEAST some coaxials and a small amp. No point in replacing only your tweeters, once you get started you will want to continue. Do it right the first time.

Good point. I'll just save and buy a set of components for the front. I'm starting to enjoy taking the car apart lol. My only concern is running speaker cable from the amp (which i'll mount in the trunk) to the new components in the front doors. I know how to run the speaker cable along the sides, but then what? Where do I run it up into the kick panel area and into the doors? Can somebody give me some advice or direct me to a thread that explains how to get the new speaker cable into the doors? Or am I better off splicing some of the bose stuff? Sorry for all the newb Q's

If you want to run speaker cable into the doors you're going to have to drill. If you would prefer not to drill, you can tap into the speaker wires in the kickpanels on each side. Run wire from amp to crossover, put your crossovers in your kickpanels. Tap for your woofers going into the door, and run the tweeter wire upwards and mount in your A-pillar.

Indeed.

The tweet is 4Ohm, but as others have I would also suggest doing the full comp set at once.
