Can't decide how to fire the sub...

I've got a single JL 12w6v2 in a slot ported enclosure. What's the best way to face the sub for sq? (towards back of trunk, towards front of car, etc.) I could care less about spl, more concerned with sq.

try it both ways, whatever you like best.

it should be louder if you face it towards the rear of the car however..

I have the same sub installed in a slot-ported enclosure as well. My sub faces the rear of the car and it provides excellent sq. I doubt I'd face it forward to gain anything in terms of better sq.

Face toward the rear. the only time you should face the subs forward is if the tunk is sealed and the subs and port only fire into the cabin. The standing waves a forward fired box can create in a trunk car can create a ton of issues.

If you want pure SQ, def go sealed. It will give you the flattest response. I am not saying that ported enclosures have no SQ. If they are built correctly to compliment the natural response of the sub, they can do wonders for output as well as sound great. But overall, go sealed if you want SQ.

OR you can fire towards the cabin, but make a baffle to seal the trunk from cabin.

Sounds good. I'll face it toward the rear for now. I'm debating about the sealed box. Tough call because it sounds really good in the slotted one, but i wouldn't mind a little more trunk space.
