I have a microvision screen, and a seperate dvd player, i have the remote for the dvd player but i can only control the volume through my dvd player, sometimes when im watching movies the bass is WAY to high and i can barely hear the words, i'd like to control the sound through my hu, how is that possible anyone?

 

What kind of head unit do you have? Does it have an auxiliary input? How is your system wired? Sounds like your dvd player is going directly to the system and not through an input on your HU, which is why you can't control the volume.
