Curiosities sake. I also thought that, being in the market for some myself, and for others that are too, it would be a great resource to see what's out there for our consideration.

If possible, could you also tell me/us what the mids and tweeters are made of (metal or natural fiber), how you like or don't like the sound (just right, too bright, not warm enough, not enough kick, too much kick etc.) and what kind of music you listen to and whether you think it compliments your speaker choice or not.

And if it's not too intrusive, how much they cost. If you have pictures of em, mounted or no, that would be gravy too. Really, anything that you think is relevant or that you'd like to share about your speakers would be great.

Thanks.

My last set were Rainbow Audio Soundlines. The mid are natural fiber and the tweeter are silk dome. Loved how they sound, but now upgraded to some Rainbow Germaniums. They'll come in shortly...just placed the order a few days ago. IIRC the Germanium cones are aluminum and the tweets are silk.

I mainly listen to trance/techno and occasionally rock/alternative. The Rainbows sound damn nice...very balanced and pretty warm. I don't think the SLC's were as warm as my Boston's I had prior on getting the Rainbows, but they still sound very natural to me.

Prices....PM Don.

Congratulations on your new Germaniums. I'll be wildly curious to know how they sound and compare to your old SLC's and Boston's when you hook em up. Keep me posted.

Definately. Spoke to Don about the difference between the SLC's and the Germaniums...and he said its a big improvement. I trust his word...so I'm quite eager to put them in.

Most likely..Hybrid Ovation would fit the bill. Yes they are, especially with DLS. DLS drivers are based off a Morel/Dynaudio type of setup. Very similiar characteristics...natural,warm and laid back.

I reckon it's list making time

Let's see here:
Rainbow
Germanium
Profi
Profi Vanadium

Morel
Hybrid Ovation
Elate: I sure do like the description of the MT-23 tweet. Sweet and warm. Sounds delish! Are those guys out of range?

DLS
Iridium 6.2
UR6i
Nobelium 6.2
RS6
UP6

Man, theres all sorts of good stuff out there. Is there anything else I should add or strike from the list? Stuff that's too pricey, not up to par with some other stuff, or some other good ones that I've overlooked? Sorry for my anality, but I was hoping to zero in on something and be supremely happy with my choice (if that's possible)

Found another component set of interest: The Dynaudio 240 GT. Anyone know or heard of it? Thoughts.

Another great choice, but an older set...new model would be: 242GT from the '06-07 Esotec line.

Mtx Thunderaxe Txc6.1's. Was suprised at how they sound when I heard them in a car at the shop. Bought them and are satisfied with them. But after buying some Rainbows Soundlines for rear fill, I am pondering on trying some rainbow comps. The coax actually sound better than some comps that I heard. It just got me to wondering how the componets will sound.

Running the Rainbow SLC...old school from 2003. They're the oldest audio component I have in my car and they're probably not going anywhere cause I like 'em so much.

I also have the Rainbow SLC 265s. Lots of midbass, very warm sounding, very clean. All bass notes do not sound the same!

If I keep the Max for much longer, I definately need sound deadening. I think the lack of sound deadening is keeping my speakers at 75% of their potential.
