Cell phone input..

Changing from my ever so horrible Moto Q, just unsure of which way to go...

top two choices now are:

BlackBerry 8703e
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/s...ompletedOrder=

or Verizon(Audiovox) XV6700
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/s...ompletedOrder=

Obviosly service is on VZW. I do use a bit of talktime, but more importantly I constantly utilize the EV-DO via ***hering to my laptop.

Any input would be great especially from owners/users of either device.

you know where I stand....
XV6700 ftmfw!
The ease of typing on the keyboard is crazy. Familiar windows format ftw.

Honestly you can't go wrong with either one...but ergonomically I think you'll like the slide out keyboard better.

I find the blackberry to be atrociously hideous. I'd say go with the the XV6700 ( if you don't go for the V or enV). If i remember the XV6700 had some locking up problems but i think they were fixed. I'd check out www.phonescoop.com for some info.

I find the enV quite unappealing and wont do everything I need. Aside from that I find the screen small and not very practical. Did see a few people at the store returning exchanging em too.

True the V series appeals to only some people lol. I have the v and love it. I'm not sure what you're trying to do, but have you looked at the Samsung's? If you're set on one of the two you mentioned the Blackberry is overall probably the better phone even if it is decidely unattractive...but it's close enough to where i'd go for the XV6700 still. Rim tends to do do a fairly good job. I tried calling about those battery terminals too! You still have em?

Blackberry hands down.

Q is not so bad, but I found it too wide for my hand.

6700 is clumsy and REQUIRES two hands to utilize keyboard, which is impossible when driving.

BB has push email, XV6700 has pull email. Would you rather your emails come to you or you have to go get them?

There are plenty of push email solutions as well. I agree with djfrestyl about the one handed operation of the keyboard though. That's was the deciding factor for me between the 6700 and the Treo 700wx. Have you looked at the 700w or 700p?
http://pocketpcthoughts.com has a ton of info on both the 6700 and the 700w
http://www.treocentral.com has plenty of info on the 700p

working AT verizon.. i would presonally ecommend the audiovox. it has more features than the blackberry. unless email is your primary motive. blackberry is a email specialty type of phone but the audiovox is more versatile. also the difference between the treo and 6700 is the 6700 has the graffitti feature whereas the treo does not. BUT treo has more software support and is good if you plan to sync to an office system or such. =)

Try the Verizon section at howardforums.com It's sort of like the maxima.org for cellphones.

The Treo was more moeny and would force me to learn Palm OS, after I already did BB with my former phone and just started learning WinMobile. I didnt wanna try to learn something new. Im not very literate in that field.

Email and tethering are my main goals. I was informed last night a few times that the 6700 isnt tethering capable. So it quickly ruled it out.

As the first post states..Im using VZW and I have a phone that will not hold a charge. Waiting for June would not have been an option either way.

Oh and I went with the BB. Setup was super easy unlike the Q which had me on the phone for 2.3 hrs getting the modem setup. They had me through 3 different levels of tech, then motorola tech. Wasnt the first time for them either.

Palm OS is cake.

Lol @ t.e.t being censored.

Although Don, if you want a Palm, wait a few months for the Treo 750..smaller, thinner, no protruding antenna.

The 700w runs Windows Mobile 5... Although dj's statement is correct as well, that the Palm OS is about as user friendly as you get. But the 750 is a GSM phone which means it won't be available on Verizon. The 6700 can be used as a modem and so can the 700w. Look around in the techie forums. Alot of the early adopters are ditching their 700s to go to Cingular and get the 750 (not much different, but the latest and technically greatest).

I'm hearing that the 750 will be available to VZ in a few months from a friend at a VZ store, but that's all it is, a rumor. My 650 can't be used as a modem the same way I was able to use my old school Samsung with a $5 ebay cable and a dial-up network

Most likely...and just for the record I do get email notifications on my phone so I think the VX6700 is just as good as the blackberry for email notifications.
