What is a good brand speaker?

What is a good brand speaker?
I'm thinking about buying aftermarket speakers for my car. I know that I'm going to buy 6.5" 3ways but other than that I don't know what else to look for. I'm really new with audio and I plan on getting a system but I don't know where to really start. I also have a stock HU at the moment too. Any info would be appreciated.
Also I guess it would be good to say that I have Non-Bose in my car.

I know that a system will run me into the thousands. I do have a thougt of what kind of system I was to run. Double-Din Pioneer D2 or a Single Din depending on how much I want to spend, (Unknown speakers), JL Subs 2 10" W3 w/ 1 250watt amp for speakers and 1 500watt amp for subs.

What do you mean? Like in a better system? Cause I was thinking I want something nice but not to expensive and can hit. I don't want something with too much bass like you see with the black people driving around in the beaters bumping it so hard that all you hear is bass and not the music while the truck rattles like no other. Cause I want a system that has nice bass and people outside can still hear the bass and the music. If you know what I mean.

Let me put things this way- My HU (new, authorized dealer) and components (new, authorized dealer), amp (used), sub and box (used), and all of my wiring, deadening, and connectors are under $600.
You can always do this- New HU and 6.5" coaxials, plus coaxials for the rear (5.25" if you have Bose, or leave them stock if you have a non-Bose), plus a moderate 2-channel amp and sub. See how you like things, then upgrade your amp and use it for maybe a set of components, then get a bigger amp for the sub and move the moderate amp to the components...or you might find that phase 1 is enough.
Let us know budget and desires, and we will work with you to stay in YOUR budget to tell you what will work for you.

With you having the non-Bose, I'd do this-
New HU first. Upgrade your front speakers to either mid-priced components or coaxials. Run these off of your HU. If your budget allows, add a small amp (maybe 50W x 2) and a SINGLE sub- a 10 or 12 is enough. Then, when money allows, get a second (bigger) amp, which you can use on the sub and move the smaller amp to your front speakers. If you already have components, then you are pretty much done. You can really leave the rear speakers as stock. If you went with coaxials in stage 1, then move them to the rear, and get components for the front doors at this time.
Stage 1 cost depends on your choice in a HU. You can spend from $250-400 and get a wide array of features, depending on your needs. Add another $50-100 (give or take) if you go with components over coaxials at this stage.
Adding a sub will vary based on whether you buy new or used. I bought a used amp, and was plannig on buying a new sub, but an inexpensive but very nice used sub fell in my lap. My amp and sub and box were $150- combined.
Add $75-ish for good wiring and cables when you add the amp/sub.
Bigger amp is $200-ish. You don't have to get the best to sound good.

also, components comes with an external crossover to seperate the highs and lows and sends them to the proper speakers to play them. in the end you'll get much cleaner sound than some coaxials (although some coaxials do sound pretty damn good)

Well in Cali/my area, it's more black people. But I'm not trying to be racist or anything. But most of the time when you hear a car bumping it with all bass it seems like its mostly black people.

Ask yourself (and tell us): What do you need in a HU? Satillite? Mp3? ipod connectivity?
You can do this in slow, reasonably-priced steps. We'll help you out...

thats exactly what i'm doing-
i got my hu through crutchfield simply because they provide the kits and wiring for installing for free. I found mine on sale for 140-- its a kenwood excelon x590 and it had everything i needed without spending too much. I hooked that up to my bose system by wiring my own metra 7551 kit (dont worry abotu this if you dont have bose cause you luckily dont need it)
Next i found a decent 4 ch on cardomain-- the JBL gto 75.4II, with more than enough wattage and flexibility, i found this a as a very good deal at 190 (still on sale today but i dont know for how long)
I plan on purchasing the new assassin sub from ascendant audio when that comes out pretty soon-- not sure how much but it will be under 100 for sure i'd think
next all i need are my comps, where i will prbably go for don's slcs when i get enough money, and until then I find no problem with the quality i'm getting out of my bose comps until I can afford the rainbows at 240 (that the price?)
Knuconceptz wiring is a bargain on ebay: $60
i'm at 700 or so tops with all brand new stuff with waranties. throw in some deadening and for under 800 total and I think i'll be pretty happy with this setup. The key is just doing it in steps. if you plan right and look for the sales without purchasing from unauthorized dealers you should be able to do even better than i did, especially if you check what don can hook you up with. thats the next step, i'd say.
good luck!
