I finished wiring for my amp, but since it isnt here yet I decided to throw in my old amp just to test it and stuff, but ran across a problem. when I turn the car on the led flashes red and then turns off (It is usually green when everything is good) so I went through the basic troubleshooting process.. i re-sanded and re-sanded and re-sanded my ground, tested my rca's, tried my old subs wired in different ways, and everything else I could think of, but the problem persisted. Its an old Bazooka and I even tried using the same wires that I ran it off before in my old car, when everything worked. the only thing I can imagine could be wrong is that when I connected the remote wire behind the HU I got a bit lazy and just twisted the wires together and taped. I'm pretty sure I have a solid connection, but that is all I can think to check before blaming the amp itself. any other ideas before I pull it all apart again?

 

Usually red = protect mode. Disconnect all your speakers and let the amp just turn on. If it turns on, its your speakers or speaker wiring. If it goes into protect, its the amp or your power wiring. Where did you get the amp?

 

I got the amp new from CC but the warranty is up. It did work before however, so I'm pretty sure its in the wiring somewhere.

 

As djfrestyl said, try disconnecting the speaker wires (and maybe the RCA's cause you never know) to first make sure that there's no problem there that's sending it into protect. If this still doesn't work and you think it might be your remote turn on wire (if it weren't connected at all, then it wouldn't try to turn on at all, and not even the red light should come on), then use a small piece of wire to make a jumper from your power wire to the remote turn on input. I'm sure this is obvious, but just make sure not to leave this hooked up or your amp will stay on all the time and drain your battery.

 

ok i know its not the speakers.. I had a problem with the rca's in the car it came out of but I tested those and they worked ok so I really dont think its that either, because at one point I forgot to plug the rcas in at the amp and it acted the same way. so i'm thinking its the ground...? but I looked at that and it really couldn't be a better connection. I dont know maybe I'll do the remote test thing. could I just run a wire from the power wire input to the remote input next to is with the power wire in place? or should I run the remote test from the battery? thanks

 

got it figured out. it was the remote. thanks for the help guys
