1100F vs 556u

Heres a good tech question

Who knows the difference as to why the 99-00s cant use a 1100F, but the 01-up can? Ive done two 1100F's so far at work, and while they are a kind of a b|tch to program, itd be nice to have the option.

Follow up question...

Anyone done a 1100F on a nissan yet? Any issues? As much of a pain to program as it was on the Expedition I did the other day?

Ive only used the 555/556Us. Ive read a few negs about the 1100s on the DEI forums, so Ill wait til bugs are cleared first.

Bypasskit/expresskits are nice.

They come out of the box working for Fords, but you can flash them for other models if you have a cable from DEI that hooks the unit to USB. I believe they have all the software out for the car makes below. Theres a full compatibility list on Directechs, and its supposed to work on maximas 01-up.

DEI-1100G – GM/VATS, Passlock & PK3
DEI-1100H – Honda/Acura
DEI-1100D – GM/Daewoo
DEI-1100K – Hyundai/Kia
DEI-1100P – Honda Prelude
DEI-1100M – Mazda
DEI-1100N – Nissan/Infinity
DEI-1100F – Ford/Mazda, Lincoln/Mercury
DEI-1100X – Toyota/Lexus
