Bose HU question

tried to search about this but could not find anything.

Do you folks know if the 5th gen maxima Bose HU came with speed sensitive volume control?

I know my 2001 gle does not have that but maybe the 5.5's have it?

If so, has anyone done a retrofit?

I believe all the 5.5s do, but could be wrong. Definately yes on Bose though.

Ok..

has anyone done the retrofit of a bose HU from a 2002 up into a 2K or a 2K1?

Also, does anyone have the wiring info for a 2002 up with speed sensitive volume? I found the wiring info for the general 5th gen but there doesnt seem to be a speed signal wire coming into the HU..

thoughts?

if you dont have something to say to the topic why are you unnecessarily messing up someone's post who is looking for information here?

1-8 don't make sense, the grounds wouldn't be it, and 12-16 wouldn't either. I was just posting the diagram on the chance it was different from the one he'd seen.

How do 1-8 Not make sense? you have your front speaker leads, Power antenna, constant, dimmer, parking lights. Im not sure how one could not interpret that.

I wasn't clear enough. What I meant is that they don't make sense in that they wouldn't carry a speed signal.

For all I know, the Bose headunit has a little hamster who stares at the speedometer and turns down the volume manually.

Because this is the audio forum...we arent little b|tches here like all the 5th gen guys who get their panties in a wad when people start chatting/whoring

Here you go, Ill post something on topic. Speed sense is pink/blue on all 5th gens.

sounds pretty kewl...

so from the diagram the HU harness does not have speed sense.

So now i need to find out what this mystery harness is where it gets a speed signal and hence the SSV functionality.

Any thoughts? Any of you guys who have pulled out your HU seen a second harness? Where do the steering control wires go into the HU? any pics?

The wire can be easily accessed from behind the cluster. Pink/Blue in the center harness. You will however need the harness from the other radio to add on.

hmm... i could do that hack job...

what i really want to do is retrofit the bose with SSV into my 01 GLE...

I'm tired of manually increasing the volume all the time

Is there any other HU that does have speed sensitivity settings?

hmm... nice to know about that pioneer...

wats the model number? also, do you know if alpine has something like it?

i'd definately want to get a new HU if it has the SSV feature.... just tired of constantly adjusting the volume with the road noise... especially since my route to work is lot of slow downs and high way sections... I need something like it.. i have it my bmw and thats what made me want to have it in the maxima too
