Right now I'm like 70/30 on the 880 vs 780...agh such a tough decision, but if I find the 780 for a REALLY low price, then I'm going for it.

I can't find a good price on the 780 unless it's from a non authorized seller aka Ebay (refurb)

That's another reason why I might go with the 880 new from 6spdcoupe

Hey Jess I have the 880 in the GXE kit with the covered pocket below. Let me know if you want me to snap some pics for you. I think it looks good in silver with white light.

Okay well I got a good deal on the 780mp it should be coming in sometime this week.

$250 so saved about $70

I've decided that if I don't like it, it can always go up on ebay and I'll get the p880prs later down the road and run active.

I'll be modding my dash kit in some way to make the plastic smoother to match the original dash. Either by sanding the plastic down to 1000 grit or by painting it.

Stay tuned!

PS 02maxxxSE don't forget those pics

It's going to be a while...

I've got everything except the enclosure now to be done. Also the deadening I will do AFTER the install just because I want to see how bad the rattles are, also for me to note what locations they are after the sub is actually in the trunk.

I've got to save enough $ for the alarm install now again. I had the $ until I purchased the HU lol. So I'd say the total install will be done...in April or May. Just because I am not installing my audio before an alarm.

Total cost now $1303...and rising...

Alarm = $500
Audio Install = ?? + Enclosure...

Grand total ~ $2000?

Damn this is more expensive than I thought! Originally I was just going to get a sub/amp setup done. Ah well!

LOL! Or so you think. I have a buddy that will be doing the custom install for me. Custom box that will go from one wheel well to the other wheel well then the amp will be sitting behind the box and can be seen when the back seat is flipped down. I also have a aftermarket alarm already installed.

It will have a piece of plexie glass infront of the subs and also I'm gonna have some white strobes to light up the subs when I hope my trunk and have the switch on.

Update: 3/27/07 - 2 Channel Amp

Sounds kewl man I want some pics after you get everything done!

Here we are another update! A Pionner 2 Channel amplifier to run the front stage (Rainbow speakers). It arrived within 3 days in great shape. Almost have everything I need and I'm excited, because I can't wait to hear everything together for the first time.

What I'm waiting on this week...

Cascade audio speaker dampening kit for the front doors
Kicker 1/0 dual amp kit
MDF speaker spacer rings
Pioneer Premier 780mp HU

Open it up!!

The prize inside...

Isn't that a bit overkill for 2 speakers? Also how much did you get the amp for?

Yup exactly what I was thinking, Arc Kar 400.4 or 600.4. This would leave the doors wide open to going 2 way active if you ended up decided to ditch the 780 for the 880.

Go for the 600.4 for some headroom and for future upgrades, think of slc265's as pot, they're the gateway drug.... or is that crack? Either way you get the idea.

Will it be too much for the SLCs though? If I just run the front stage off the amp until I get rear speakers? That's the only thing I'm scared of lol blown rainbows.

LoL I'm not going to use the Pioneer don't worry. I have a friend who wants it. So I said yeah sure take it!

I'm getting the Arc 400.2 "just" for the front stage rainbows. I don't think I'll be running anything for the rear until later on.

If you want sound there sometimes you can hook it up via the headunit rear speaker outputs. That's what I did since I bridged my front stage with my 4Channel Amp.

I was thinking about having the rears hooked up to the HU.

Just wondered...is there any way to run the stock Bose rears off of the headunit?

I know the Premier 780 does 50Wx4 unsure of what ohms ...

And I have no clue how much power the stock rear speakers take.

you are better off just buying some $50 coaxials from egay...or if you are a balla get some rainbow coaxials for around 100.

You can run the bose rear off the HU if you get the metra 70-7551. What you would do is run the front outputs to the amp, run the rears to the rear input on the harness and the sub as you would.
