The 5495 will play in mp3 format at least to my understanding of what your saying.

You can also have a song on CD/MP3/FM/Sirius/etc and just hit record and it will go directly to the HD.

burnurass, you have a pm, but in the meantime, i'll just post my questions here too.

basically i've been talking to don about getting an avic-d3 or an avn5510bt or avn6610(bt). are you using an ipod with your avn setup? if so, could you possible post pics of it in action on the avn, or even better yet a video posted to youtube? (surprisingly there are no videos for the avn5510/6610, while there are plenty up for the avic-d3, i guess there is just an unspoken knowledge that the avn units are just that much better and video proof is not needed. ).

i'm really torn here on what to do, especially since as far as price goes, the d3 is way cheaper, but is also cheaper in sound, and the plethora of sound issues in general that i've read about on avic411 site. the avn units don't seem to be that huge of a difference in cost, but you get the added bonus of bigger screen with the avn units, and of course the dual dvd drive with the 6610. anyway, i'd love to hear your expanded thoughts, maybe a review of the various areas of the avn units for those of us that don't have access to play with one.

thanks much for your time

pm'ed you back...
I don't think the any ipod kit will do video..though that's a good idea. If you want the videos off the ipod you can connect it to the aux inputs. You have to buy the cable for the ipod that outputs video to a tv or something.

Just had a question... When you installed the headunit where did you connect the speed sensor wire? I have my dash opened up right now and Im trying to get this wire hooked up... did you go all the way to the Main Harness on the car to get it tapped there? also the reverse wire where did you get that from? the tail lights?
