Which Infinity Speakers should I get?

I'm looking at two different Inifinity References models-6412cfp () and 6412cf () to replace the front bose in my 92 SE.

The only difference I see in the numbers is that the 6412cf has 40 watts RMS and 105 watts peak power handling and the 6412cfp has 45 watts RMS and 135 watts peak power handling. Has anyone had either of these speakers before? Is the 6412cfp that much better, or are they about the same. Also, I'm assuming both with fit in the stock speaker pods in the front, am I right in assuming this?

I would call Crutchfield to guarantee the fit. My choice would be the 4x6 6412cf. The plate speaker is going to give you an even smaller woofer than the 4x6 version. They both have the silk dome which imo always sounds great.

OK, I contacted crutchfield and they said they'd only fit with the non-bose brackets (none of their speakers actually fit the bose pods), i have the bose pods, so I have to get the brackets it looks like.

What I did was get 6.5" for the front, and 6x9" for the rear. The rears bolt right up, however for the front, you have to make brackets. I just made my brackets out of wood, which worked out perfectly! Sounds great. Granted I was unable to use the brackets from Bose since my front passanger-side bracket/speaker was stolen -.-

For the wiring, just snip the wires from the amp. You CAN infact use your stock wiring dispite what the morons at installation places tell you. Just figure out which ones are the speaker wires, clip/tape off the power lines, and simply bypass the speaker wires from the amp to your speaker. Do this for all fours, which is VERY easy to do.

For me, the 6x9" in the back provide plenty of bass, and I am very happy with the setup

Most of your quality sound is coming from the speakers up front and I would definitely recommend against 4x6 speakers or some tiny things like the plate speakers that fit a 4x6 area.

Your best bet is to buy 6.5" speakers.

You can either buy some custom made pods from James92SE or cut the Bose pods. There is room in the Bose pods to fit 6.5s (they have a 4" speaker stock, but it will fit), you just need to bypass the amp. I believe MrGone has a picture somewhere of how to cut them.

So do the bigger pods just mount inside the door? Is the original hole big enough to allow the sound to escape cleanly?

So you liked the subs.... doesn't mean the speakers are that good...

I like their subs to an extent, but loath their comps and coax's.

i've tried infinity's subs, coax's and components. Here's my take.

Infinity Kappa Perfect subwoofers were GREAT.
Coax/components....TOO BRIGHT/SHARP to really listen to loud. Get some POLKS for the same price or cheaper....they werent' as bright. Or save up for a nice rainbow SLC package or some DLS components.
