how to start my audio system?

Ok well i just got my mid-grade alpine 9883 in that replaced my bose and i really do like it very much. Reason why i wanted the upgrade was for MP3 functions and well i was bored at home. Now that i got that out the way.

My thoughts on my Alpine VS the bose is that the BOSE has better bass and probably a little louder overall. But the Alpine unit plays its a lot clearer and more crisp at a louder rate then the bose. So overall i rather trade loud for clear. But now i'm lacking a little bass and that little thump and i must admit i would love to do some audio stuff to my car. Only thing holding me back is knowledge and funds. I can pick up the knowledge just by reading your people's installs and stuff like that.

My budget right now is $300 until i get more money. I rather this be like a 1-2 year project then me spending it all at once. So I'm looking for a little more bass and to crank up the volume louder. I just want decent stuff. But when i look at $300 it doesn't get me much. Is it better to save my $300 now, for my needs what would it require just to get a little more bass and louder overall. In my mind a set of front components and a small sub should do me very well. just so so many names and brand and way to wire things up. I don't have a understanding of 2ohm-4ohm stuff, i see people refer to subs as wiring it as 4ohm active setup. Is 300$ too much to ask for a sub/amp/box combo. I don't feel safe on buying audio stuff on ebay too much unless dirty cheap. I've been to a couple of local shops and i just get the hackshop atmosphere from them. So i think i would get everything online. other then the box since it might be pricey shipping it.

Keep saving until you have a little bit more. It's going to be hard to find an amp, sub, box and wiring for $300, keeping in mind that decent amps cost 2-300 themselves.

I got a sub and amp and can source you a box for what would amount to $170 or so. You'd just need to get some wiring and stuff but if your interested pm me. I'll give you all the info you need or hit me up on aim. nizzy81.

Thats how much i paid for two amps (ZED audio made 4 channel and an old school orion) Phaze mids, Aura MR tweets, and my AA assassin sub. Thats including all the wiring and wood...

If you can buy used, that budget isnt bad at all...just have to keep an eye out for good deals on great equipment

at this point i'm looking to get nismo14's profile 2400 amp and MTX thunder 8000 sub. I've been trying to look for reviews or opinions on it and i don't see that much on them.

if i were u, i would go for a couple 12 inch infinitys (reference series) off of crutchfield, and an amp for around 200, possibly just under 200. i had my two infinitys hooked up to a sony 1200 watt amp and it sounded really good. make your own box... its fun.

reviews and opinions aren't always the best way to judge components as everyones system is going to sound different...your best bet is to take what people have said in the forum and hope for the best as the only way to take an opinion is to get the exact system top to bottum
