6.5 speaker suggestions

My maxima didn't come with the bose speaker package so of course i'm looking to upgrade. I just wanted some opinions on 6.5's brands/models that would be of equal sound quality to the bose speakers. Thanks.

Equal? You should be aiming for better than Bose

lol well i don't wanna go overboard with the money so i'll settle for equal...unless there's some that are better AND cheaper...but i doubt im that lucky. also please include the model along with the brand since companies usually have a cheap econo line. thanks

buy my brand-new Rainbows - front components and rear coaxials. chances are, people here will tell you they're better than the alpines for just about same price.

thanks but i only buy from stores. i don't have a seperate amp for the speakers and i just found out that most bose systems in cars do have an amp for the speakers. this leads me to think perhaps that it wouldn't even be worth upgrading if im not gonna get another amp

Wow you are so misinformed... there' alot of info around and BOSE SUCKS. So BE HAPPY that you don't have it. Why buy from a store taht only carries 10% of the products available? And generally only carries the big names not the best quality names? your in NJ visit Don

the thing is, compared to my speakers, they sound awesome. i realize they have an amp hooked up to them though so it probobly doesn't matter what speakers i get if they're only hooked up to the headunit. visiting "Don" would be a lot easier if i had some specific models in mind

for a really cheap budget the refrence series infinity is dirt cheap, and sounds decent of a headuint amp.

depends on what your definition of cheep is? but the boss has bass because of the 8 inch sub in it.. other then that it is an awsome distortion factory.

Same question here, got a budget of lets say...$700-800. Thinking of speakers and a headunit for now, or if possible to get a decent 10" sub with an amp for interior and one for trunk all under that budget... not going for any audio competitions, just something nice to upgrade off my Bose which are all blown out already... any suggestions?

Sorry new to this whole ICE thing, who is Don by the way?

hey i built a "cheep" system trying to get good sound quality. i got 4 alpine type-r 6.5's for 250$ a pioneer headunit for 150$ a kicker zx750.5 for 275$ an id12d4 v3 for 150$. so all in all i spent 900, i could have done a lot better but you know i think it sounds awsome and every high schooler with the 4 pyramid 15's in his car has drooled over my modest system... and don is a frequent maxima.org user who hooks people up with extreamly reasonably priced highend setups that quite a few people on here warship the toilet he craps on... never met him so he may **** gold, not sure on that tho.. hes pearl96max. i can say i have never heard anything bad about him.

IMO Rainbow's are some of the finest drivers out there!! Even in the SLC'S price range you WILL NOT find a better sounding set of drivers for the money!

Most importantly .....its what your ear hears and likes. Go see Don if you get the chance and listen and see for yourself, You will not be disappointed!
