Word. That was Kevins suggestion too. I think it looks jam up too. I need to find someone that carries Premier so I can go take a look.

Not feelin the looks on this one, but if it performs the best, who cares. Need to locate pricing on that sucker.

No no no.. I own one and say no. Never know if you're gonna get any noise from it, the pre-outs measure varying voltage on each output... pathetic.

Get the CD7100.

I do absolutely love all the tuning capabilities though

You own the Pioneer? Where did you buy it? What noise did you get? Don't they have to perform as stated by the new consumer electronics laws? Was the varying voltage between the non-fader out and the others or was it random? I haven't heard anything like this about that particular deck yet. I am only asking all of these questions b/c I am trying to get as much feedback as possible before I buy.

Have you had the chance to get some seat time in with the 7100? What did you like about it?

I got it in a trade actually, for my 860mp. I don't have much noise, and the noise I AM getting, I believe is from another source. I haven't had time to mess with it yet, and it is alternator whine. I don't know anything about the new ce laws???

Varying voltage has been noted by a couple of people whom I asked to test. It was between left and right channels of the front outs, and for one person the rear outs. One read 5 and the other 3.5, and one read 5 and the other 4.xx. There are numerous people who have had the same noise issue as the previous pio decks who were plagued with this problem.... If it were not for the noise issues, the pioneer would own all.

BTW, I noted a MARKED difference output voltage from the "5v" this deck puts out vs the 6.5v my 860 put out. No doubt that this new 5v might be a tad overrated.. I quite honestly wish I still had my 860 mp (this had the alternator whine defect issue) and had run that in active mode. At least I knew that 860 had been fixed. This lower voltage issue pushed me to purchase an audio control linedriver.

I have yet to mess with the 7100, but am 50% going to give it a shot.

All this talk about the PRS made me go and mess with it to see if I could elimate the whine, did what I could with it and so far so good, all noise and whine is gone.

Thanks for the information. I went and demoed a lower level Eclipse 3000 and though it felt very cheap. I assume the faces are all similar. They look that way. The entire faced would move when navegating through the menus using the toggle. I am very skeptical given the display model I put my hands on. I need to get some more information on the Pioneer and the V issues. That would def keep me from buying that unit.

Nice. What did you do? Ground the RCA's to the radio chassis?

off topic: ^ that was our black friday special from last year. fortunately then we didnt sell many. unfortunately now we still have some left.

on topic: if the 880 is ruled out due to noise, there arent many decks left out there with good tuning options that look good and are user friendly imo.
but as much as Im not a big Alpine fan the past couple years...anyone know the specs/price of the new CDA-9887? It could be a good possibility for chris. All I can find online is 24 bit Burr Browns and 3 4V preouts. Alpines site talks about Audussey Labs MultEQ, but no specifics beyond what I just wrote, no price, etc.

I guess I should have kept the damn 9833. I will do some searching about the Alpine as well.

Nope, grouding of the RCA's to the chassis actually netted more noise for me initially so that plan got scratched early on. I grounded it to the chassis from the very first time I installed it.

I messed around with a few settings moved some wiring, replaced some rca's and noise was ALMOST completely gone. I have a tad bit of alternator whine but nothing that'll kill me.

you wont find much on the 9887 yet, and a price has not been released, either. My rep said it will be much like the 9835, with better DACs and full speed ipod capability, along with imprint ready blah blah blah..

Its projected release date is around July, but dont hold your breath.

The amount of features you want all in one is killing the list of possibilities. I was going to say you could jump on the Clarion/Addzest bandwagon with a DRZ because itd have the processing you want but theyre not mp3. Although overpriced when new you could probably pick one up for 500-700 from the forums depending on condition.

I say get the 880, if you get the ground noise keep sending it back till you get one that doesn't have it. I mean you've been without it for so long anyways..

How the heck is your HU still in some guys garage after 6 months?!?!?

I actually sent it in February, so at a maximum it has only been 2 so far. I was told why it wasn't sent out but don't remember the conversation the same way he did. You know the guys garage in which it sits. He is close by. I suppose you can ask him. I don't want to post a disagreement I had with someone, especially a friend, here. I will just have to chalk it up too a misunderstanding and wait for the resolution.

They could also be had for not much more BNIB, remember whats currently in my car? The DRZ is hands down the best all-in-one solution. Although Im only using the transport and nothing else.

Hahahaha. I was hoping he would see it before anyone else. Oh well. I guess this is my thread allowing me to hijack it.

I have no t heard one word about the Va Tech shooting in any of my classes. I think it is strange that people are ignoring it. Especially in a school.

The CC popo gives the occassional speeding ticket or parking ticket. They do patrol the hell out of the outer lots though. Even as just a deterant, that part makes me happy. I checked my school email account and there is nothing. Checking the homepage now.

A small update. DEH880PRS has been purchased. I will pick it up either tomorrow or Tuesday. Woot. It will make a hell of a backup unit.
