Got a surprise from the UPS man yesterday

BIRCH FTW!
Finally got my enclosure made by MR.MARV over on ECA.com.

Old box vs. New Box

got put on a diet

Pretty much w/o the 1" front (it's 3/4" birch all around now) and no more plexiglass window in the back that's the size it came out to. It is A LOT lighter too now...ftw

I got Red X's but I'm work so who knows...glad to see the Birch idea coming along. That birch I'm sure owns my HD birch I've used.

Also finished up my Eclipse branded Parrot bluetooth phone kit. Got a little speaker from parts express:

Pics of the controller:

and pic of the avn6610 for good measure

Overall impressions:
The Kit itself works very good. ONLY BAD THING is that it NEEDS to use the highlevel outputs from the headunit to output the sounds. So that's why I used this little speaker. I failed to realize that music will come out from this little speaker...so yeah...might have to put a little switch on it. We'll see... If you don't use amps and just throw in this headunit I def. recommend the bluetooth kit. Otherwise...i'd probably pass. =P

Thanks...the 7" screen is sooo much bigger than the 6.5" screen. Wish they would've done the bluetooth BETTER and integrated with the touchscreen. Unless I have the voice dialing names setup I'd have to take out my phone and dial. OH well...maybe next time around they'll get it right. I thought it was going to be a plug and play unit but it pretty much wires up the same way as a regular parrot kit except it intercepts the speakers wires/power with a special adapter instead of splicing the wires yourself.

LOL I should huh... I have to get this adapter to convert the voltage though...
http://www.twowheelradio.com/Merchan...roduct_Count=0

The real reason is that i'm waiting for freaking TERK to make the XM direct for Eclipse....

I got a new box because my old box kinda split open somehow on the back piece...so everytime the bass hit the wood would vibrate back and forth. So I took this opportunity to get a new box. I got a pretty good deal since MARV had leftover BIRCH from Don's box, so he didn't need to order more birch.

you dont have to get that voltage converter though, you could just solder wires to the plug.

box looks clean btw.

Oh really? 12V would be ok going into the unit? I read up on it and they all said that the power adapter puts out 6v's. you've done it before ?

Gawd, he does good work. Jeff, for the cig lighter, if it's a different voltage, you can still solder wires to the pin/shield on the outside of the plug, tape it off, and then place the entire thing in your dash (if you still have room ). It will be a little bulkier than a straight hardwire, but you need it.

ahh I see... good idea.

dude...I have NO MORE ROOM back there its ridiculous. BLUETOOTH kit just took up all the left over rooom... lol. Maybe a little wire management would help but man....no room back there. LOL. I'll just wait for friggin terk to come out with the xm unit.

The lighter plug itself converts it, did you really think your cig lighter was 6V?

Soldering on works like a charm and I do it nearly daily for Sirius bums.

+1. Crack open the ciggy adapter. If there's no circuitry, hard wire can be done. If there is, solder to the outside.

Better yet, hide an aux cig lighter behind the dash. That's how I did mine, and it can be done with butt connectors and e-tape...right up your alley!

But I soldered mine anyways

So when you install the AVN 6610 you get left with a space on the left and space at the bottom from using this kit?

Looks like that was left on your kit...

nope..it was just the angle of the shot...cause it sticks out a little from the gxe trim so that's why it looks like it's "flush on the right side"
