Rainbow Subs

OK i've been hearing awesome things about the Rainbow speaker line, but what about the subs. does anyone have them installed or have heard them. This is the last part of the system that I haven't figured out yet. I can't seem to find any decent reviews of them (in english). Ohh im going for a balance of SPL & SQ. Probably 2 12" in a sealed box. If there are any other recommendations feel free

if your budget can afford 2 12" Rainbows subs...do it. They have very good sq ratings from what I read, and 2 12's should give you enough spl to satisfy you.

I have one 10" Rainbow Vanadium, I love it. My whole car vibrates from the sub at low volumes.

welll their speakers rule, i can only imagine their subs will be top-notch SQ as well.

My next sub will be an ID Max probably, they get nothing but great reviews from bass hungry and SQ hungry people alike.

The Profi and Vandium subs (Paper Vs Metal) are probably the best sounding, most accurate, extremely well detailed subs Ive ever owned/used/installed/listened to. Each of course having their own place in the right setup. Extremely small enclosures, fairly good output and effortlessly reproduce anything you throw at em. Of course as most things...these come with a fairly hefty price tag.

The Amboss and Hammer series are excellent performers, but for the money. Is there better? Yes, but isnt there always? Bang for the buck, Id put either of these at the top of a short list.

Great Sound, Lots of Bass. Fantastic!

autohifi [2007/01]

12" Amboss - Rainbow's frequency response was the most well-balanced in the test field for broadband set-up, yet it offered decent sensitivity. Accordingly, the sound was round and peppy. With its excellent differentiation it struck every note unerringly, producing a warm and voluminous sound. In the middle to lower ranges it performed its best and still hung in with a perfectly clean bass. In sum, a musical jack-of-all-trades. Result: Great sound and lots of bass from such a small package. Fantastic!

Easily the best subwoofer

AutoSound [2007/??]

12" Hammer - English translation: This sounds nice... Sounds firm and linear and goes quite low also, even though the most low frequencies are a bit mild perhaps. Really easy to listen - music just seems to be flowing forwards. This one doesn't annoy you at all, you can listen to it all day long. Works well with high and low volume. Behaves well also in fierce playing.

The Best: Rainbow 12" Hammer plays well with all kinds of music. Frequency response is very good, so it goes quite low while being accurate and separating. Most of all, this subwoofer is pleasant to listen. Hammer's sensitivity in a ported enclosure is above average and it produces a lot of sound even with low amplifier power. The ported volume needed for the Hammer is quite small, and when it comes to the size of the enclosure, Hammer is very flexible. We also noticed that the Hammer comes with a comprehensive operation manual with all needed information, and all this in Finish language. This is how it should be done! The price being suitable, Rainbow 12" Hammer is easily the best subwoofer in the test.

One of the Best Sounding Subwoofers

autohifi [2005/03]

12" Vanadium - Well turned-out, the SW300E Vanadium (12" Vanadium) sat like a powerful presence in the laboratory. At just 90 Hz the 12-inch delivered a respectable 114 dB, and then pushed up to 116 dB with a 70-Hz measurement. At 50 Hz things really got going, as the Rainbow jumped up to 121 dB on the measurement scale. The editors were curious about the 30-Hz measurement, which always separates the chaff from the wheat. The Vanadium reached an incredible 108 dB, which resulted in a total 26 points of sound pressure - a good score for a listening test. At this point the editors had to measure the Rainbow against the 38-point reference, the Emphaser EM12Neo. But after only a few tracks it was clear that the Emphaser would fall short this time. The Rainbow followed complex bass runs, as found in the track "Flying" on the Alpine F#1 Status CD, just too easily. Also, in terms of dynamics, the EM12Neo gave the Rainbow only minimal opposition. Clearly fuller in sound and more taut, the SW300E Vanadium took, for example, "Counting on Me" by Korn to the limit ... Result: The Rainbow SW300E Vanadium joins the absolute top class and belongs with the best-sounding subwoofers ever. Super! [40 sound quality points]

Super Deep Balance

CAR&HIFI [2004/06]

8" Vanadium - Follow-up review to 2004/05 flawed test conditions: With an obviously impressive pressure it does the job; with outstanding precision, the closed SW 200 EV has power to spare ... Because of the expanded frequency range and the increase in maximum levels the ported enclosure made an impression during the laboratory evaluation, which naturally earns a better overall classification.

Great Concept!

autohifi [2003/06]

8" Vanadium - The subs of the Vanadium Series from loudspeaker specialist Rainbow have already proved their top quality several times over ... As a surprise the SW200E was provided in the measuring laboratory. Not only did the Rainbow with 116 dB deliver the highest sound pressure in the test field at 70 Hz and 112 dB at 50 Hz - it also trumped with a nearly unbelievable 100 dB at 30 Hz. Insane! ... With clean upper bass and good progression, the Rainbow played test tracks dynamically and with intense pressure ... an adult conception, which will virtually never require a larger woofer. Great sound, high volume, favourable price - at that point the test victory was practically just a formality. Great concept! [Best product of Review, Absolute Top Class, 1st place]

Brutal Foundation

CAR&HIFI [2006/01]

Hurricane 12" - With the Hurricane 12" one recognizes immediately the thoughtfulness Rainbow puts into its products ... The 12" Hammer honors its name and hammers out everything that comes its way. It underlies every type of music with a brutal foundation. The effect is an especially precise rendition, even when faster beats are demanded from the Hurricane. Although the belly massage was not once especially gentle, the Rainbow knows how to release the body's pleasure hormones in any case.

Hurricane = Storm!

autohifi [2005/06]

Hurricane 12" - Rainbow has put its well-known love for detail to work with the expensive 180 euro Hurricane 12" as well. Both the chassis and the housing make a well thought out impression ... In the laboratory the Hurricane honoured its name and produced full levels, which in the end rendered it the best in the sea of competition. The sound was thick and very powerful, as if it wanted to imitate a 38. In lower bass situations it built a very broad foundation and threw out voluminous punches ... Result: Hurricane = storm! The test victory here was only logical. The extremely solid workmanship of the Rainbow box sets the standard in this price class. [Best product of review]

Well-Balanced Sound

autohifi [2004/06]

Hurricane 12" - With full kicks and a strong punch the Hurricane 1.12 cracked just right in the listening test. Even by deeper frequencies it didn't hold back, instead meeting head-on its load limit. The progression could have developed a little more cleanly, but in view of its favorable price the Rainbow earned a hefty price tip! [Best cost/performance ratio]
