they can claim to be a professional. i mean...you may have that bird nest of wires all hidden behind there without you really knowing it. when everything is all put back together...you may not notice anything out of the ordinary. scary ain't it?

Very scary...

It's why I do my own work, or know my installer very well.

Yes. Rich's installer prior to myself was a train wreck. Cut two auto headlight wires because he looked under the dash and found two wires that were the same color as the LF speaker wires.

There was a shop I used to go to back in the day and at one time they did pretty reputable work. I watched them do installs on cars and the work was quality. Unfortunately as people come and go and newbs start the quality seems to go down the drain. Even the assistant manager noticed how shotty things were becoming and eventually left and went next door to the competitor. There is never a doubt in my mind that all the work the new shop has done in my car is of top quality due to the standards and professionallism that their installers possess. You have to be careful with who works on your car cause you never know what type of mess they will leave behind.

Nick(95maxrider)'s car is just as bad. I went to install his new Hu for him a few weeks ago and the wiring was so bad that we are ripping it all out and starting again. I will take pics.

The guy who did his "install" is/was a "professional" who has stuff cut and spliced so many times that I don't know what goes where in his car. The guy has 2 20 foot RCAs to run to amps under the front seats. The are just taped up in coils and tied (to each other) with electrical tape.

On top of that, he has an aftermarket (JWT) ECU, nitrous wiring, extra gauges, indiglo dash, etc.

I am just doing the stereo, but I am not looking forward to working with anything back there.

If I had a buck for every power line I saw running through a door jamb, I'd be typing this from my permanent vacation home in Fiji.

"I need a bigger fuse. The ones I have keep blowing."

I know who your referring to and its only on occasion that I have a brain fart and reference a sheet of paper. Do you know how many different configurations and uses there are for a relay? ALOT and yes I do stumble upon myself sometimes. So....stick that in your shoe and kick it around a bit.

LOL! I was about to come in here and talk about the rat's nest under my dash, but you beat me to it. I'm starting to feel bad about asking you to help me with all this mess. I get the feeling it's going to be hell getting the RCAs back there. Hopefully that will be the hardest part of the job. I'm willing to bet the pics of my car will top most of the pics already posted in here.

Now you've got deadlines?!

You're going to need to somehow acquire an internal spring compressor for the rears.

I don't mind it at all. I am looking forward to getting it right so that you don't have to worry with it any longer.

The rears on my Spec don't require compressors.

The rears are seperate the spring is not on the strut.
The front is basically the same and yea, spring compressors would be helpful/necessary.

I've got the clamp style for the front, that's not an issue. The rears, if they required them, which apparently they don't, WOULD have required the internal type.

PS, I'm baaaaaaaaack.
