Scary sheit right here...

Just thought I'd share some of the misery I get occassionally. This was here today and I figured Id play a bit. Now one of the major issues the customer had was no FM stations..I told him it's simple - your installer never connected the power antenna lead. He questioned the self proclaimed 'installer' and was assured that it was. Little did I know opening this dash would lead me to a plate of spaghetti larger than whats served at a San Gennaro feast...

Just the start:

Do we not remove these things when done?

No wonder no FM, antenna lead is NOT connected. And hey why not leave this wire hanging around bare? Im sure it doesnt do anything..

So much crap it busted out the side..

Dont even ask, I guess when one is lazy enough to repair a mistake - Just cut the car apart to move wires..

Sure we have room for this monster..

This is part, yes Part of the ground party attending..

Forget to install something?

I did what I could while not expecting to do this at all today. Unfortunately it will be back because another problem arose recently and his AVIC Z2 is broken Again. This will be his third one in 6 months. YaY Pioneer..

Now mind you this is not a 16-17 year old kid that attempted his own work, but rather a mid 30's 'experienced' installer. The fact that he is in the process of attemtping to open his own shop ( he feels Very capable) just scares the crap out of me.

The above explosion took place in a '05 Maxima With Bose. Now not all want to use the simple method of a Metra 7551 or just splicing in their own RCA leads, but would rather feel more comfortable with an 'adaptor'. This experienced installer figured eh what the hell let's just wire it like any radio.. Oh how this little stuff just urks me. Now wonder why so many people are afraid of shops nowadays.

he must of stuck something between the dash kit and pryed the living crap out of it to unhook those spring tabs.

speaking of pioneers...i'm sending mine in...i'm starting to think it wasn't the amp to begin with. i wasted my time...and yours...sorry...

hooked everything back up and i still got that damn high pitched tone.

you have the D3 I presume? the more i read about it, the more it worries me about the whine and other sound related issues I'm hearing about. don, looks like i'll definitely go for one of those eclipse decks. good luck, ascendantmax with getting it fixed and back up to speed.

That's grotesque.

I would've just given it back to the guy, man what a headache looking at all that wiring just strewn about.

He should not open up a shop ever until he learns the meaning of "organizing"...because that is just a crazy mess right there.

Excellent installation....
I've seen similar installs and worse, absolutely horrible jobs by what you would THINK are good installers. Kind of sad, really...

It's funny when I did a D3 install, one of the guys was really impressed at how I wired everything and I kept thinking to myself this is how it should be done, why wouldn't he expect this?

Then I see this and I understand now

Yes unfortunately. Way too many of em actually.

You should see some of the people that MobileToys sends me for the reinstall of their Sirius - antenna on roof via door jamb, wires just bunched up right there in and door barely closes and this particual one was in an '06 Volvo XC90.

I wish i took more pics back in the day. A friend ran his power wire underneath his old cadillac, no wire loom protecting it, and it was hanging about 1 inch from the road. I fixed the situation after laughing for a while.

Did you do it properly and zip-tie it to the exhaust?

wow I feel bad for people who had to pay for that mess. I'm a do it yourself kinda guy, but when it comes to my car, I would rather let a professional work on it.
