New HU Question

Well, it happened this morning. I was driving down the highway and my speakers started going on and off. Also, the sound quality seemed to be changing (sounded muffled at times). Tapping on my HU fixed the problem, but only temporarily. I have a 5.5 gen with all stock Bose system.

I am wanting to know what HU might be best to get. I don't know anything about stereos, especially installation, so reading through the other threads didn't make much sense to me.

Here is what I want:
1) Good sound quality
2) XM capable (so I wouldn't have my reciever taking up space anymore)
3) I would like to be able to keep the steering wheel controls, if it is even possible.
4) MP3 compatibilty, also looking to get an iPod in the near future

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I also would like to know if anyone has a good recommendation on where to go to have it installed in the DFW area. I am new to the area and don't know what places are good. I don't have the time, nor the know-how to do it myself.

Stereo manu. of choice for me is Pioneer. Why.... because the qauilty is good for the price. I would buy a DEH-P7xxx series and up. When I had my altima I found a way on the net to interface the steering wheel controls but never acted on it, so its worth the search.
Others....

Alpine
Kenwood
Eclipse

Pioneer would be a good bang for the buck unit with all the features you want.

SWI-PS from PAC for steering controls.

Thanks for all the input. Does anyone have an opinion about having Cartoys install the equipment? I am looking at checking out the one by Northeast mall in Fort Worth.

How will everything work if I only replace the HU (everything else is the Bose system stock)? Should I replace the amp? I am working with a limited budget, so I don't think I will be able to afford replacing everything. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
