The Cobalt amp is orions entry level amp. I'm not saying its bad, but if you're buying for the name, just know that the name is Orion Xtreme or HCCA

I think that you MAYBE buy the sub, and the amp is a decent deal. Do you have any way of testing the amp? I really doubt 1 10w6 could "kick hard" .. but itll be well balanced, if you decide to buy the set. The prices arent bad.

I haven't ever seen a W6 fall apart. They are at least as durable as any other sub. And they will "kick hard". That Orion amp is only 2-ohm stable and can't safely and reliably push that sub, so I would recommend getting the sub and then getting a different amp to drive it.

The answer.
I'll sum it up at the beginning and then explain further down. I say go for it. That is an AWESOME price on the sub and the amp will be okay - the price seems right.
Now, as for JL Audio . . . I had the surrounds rip on my 3 8W6's from years ago . . . ___3_times___!!! However, I have never seen the same thing on the 10W6. Also, one 10W6 will kick pretty hard if you want it to and you put it in the right box (sealed from .5 cubes to 1.0 cube). Not with that amp tho. So expect decent sound as long as the sub isn't bad. To find out if the sub is bad, push on the cone evenly and make sure it isn't a "soft" suspension. Kinda like cars. You want to feel force when pushing on the cone. Also, tap on the side of the cone and see if you hear a knocking sound. Tap kind of hard (not THAT hard Hulk) in between the surround and the dust cap all the way around the speaker. If you hear nothing, you're golden.
The amp can push that sub. Wiring the sub in series will yield a 3 ohm mono load and the amp should be fine. Back in the diz-zay I had 3 8W1's in series on a Kenwood KAC-923 - that's 1.33 ohms mono (on an amp that wasn't even rated for 2 ohms mono) and the amp lived to see another owner.
Good luck.
Good luck.

All that said, would it be smart to buy 2 low end 15's? Not so much. You'd be better off getting a nice 12" sub. If you want SLAMMING sound, get yourself something along the lines of an Infinity Perfect 12 or a Soundstream SPL12. If you want something more musical, get a JL 12W1 or a 12W6 (if you have the money), an Image Dynamics IDQ12, or even my personal fav. - the Infinity Beta line of subs. Infinity Betas can be found on eBay for cheap because no one knows what they are. (Thus the reason I refuse to sell mine on eBay - I paid like $220 each for mine and they are only fetching $60 a piece on eBay)
